I need new cell phone advice, please

I broke my iPhone 3G about 10 days ago. I could get it fixed for $124 but I've got an upgrade available on my plan. I can have a brand-new 3 Gs for free, or various iPhone 4's for $50 - $100.

But, the Android is looking really good. I'm impressed. So what I need to know is mainly this:

If I buy an Android phone, will it sync up to my iTunes library on my computer? The salesman said all I have to do is buy an app called iSynch and everything will be cool. But I don't know if he's right or not.

Help!

Also, feel free to tell me why an iPhone or an Android is better. And also, let me know what kind of phone you have if you use Android, and if you like the phone.

Thank you!

I just upgraged to an Iphone 4 last week and I can tell you i'm never going back to android.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I am going to go out on a limb and say that changes of you being happy with an Android, having already owned an iPhone, are slim to none.

The biggest problem with Android is that Google will license the OS to damn near anyone. So, while the Android OS may be just peachy, the phone that it's in might not be.

Case in point: before I got my iPhone, I had an Android phone - an HTC Eris. When I first got the phone, I liked it a lot. (In fact, I remarked to a friend that I no longer had "iPhone envy.") Well, about six months after I got the phone, there was an OS upgrade. Not knowing any better, I installed it - and the phone never worked the same again. The browser crashed constantly, for one thing. And there was no way to uninstall the update.

I gimped along with that mess for over a year (the remainder of the contract.) When I went to Verizon to buy the iPhone, I told the rep there my tale of woe. He said, "Yeah...that happened to a lot of people. The problem is that the upgraded OS was significantly bigger than the original OS that was in the phone. So you're basically trying to drive a Hummer with a Yugo engine." Gee - thanks, Google and HTC. rolleyes

And don't even get me started on the fact that you need a task killer app on Android because the OS constantly starts apps you have no interest in using - and which suck the living shit out of the battery.

I love my iPhone. I ain't going back. hmph!

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Exactly! There's something to be said about Apple controlling both the hardware and software for their product...

I'm not the typical iPhone fanboy but I firmly believe it is the most user freindly phone made...its simple, capable and elegant...and I never, ever use words like elegant.....ever

Android is a powerful OS and capable of so much but, imo, it's clumsy and aggravating...

How is it you feel?
