Hey Guys,

I just came from Belle Tire and I need some work done on front suspension. It's going to cost me quite a bit of bread. They want almost $600 for the parts alone! I'm looking online at some of the places you can buy these same parts and it's much cheaper than buying from the mechanic. My question is, if you go to someplace like Auto Zone and buy the parts yourself, will most mechanincs install them for you? I realize that they probably won't give you a warranty on the work, but will they even want to install parts that you bring to them?

I'm not sure about all mechanics, but I do know that bringing in the parts is "allowed".
I first started doing that years ago after reading it off a financial advice column.
Only about six months ago I needed a new alternator in my car, bought the part myself & had the mechanic install it. It cost about half of what it would've had I let him get the part himself.

shop about & find the parts, someone there will be sure to do it 'as a side job'
