Tab was sooo gross to me, my mom loved Tab.
I was too skinny to drink anything diet so I stuck to regular Pepsi/Dr. Pepper.
Having to drink TAB while others drank Coke seemed to be punishment for being fat. Drink TAB or water, take your pick.
I can not picture you very skinny at all It doesn't suit your personality.
You ain't lying! That's sure how it felt and "drink Tab or water" was said to me many times growing up. Andy is a four letter word. |

Actually, I went from "too skinny" to "too fat" ...
people who knew me in my twenties are saying "OMG, I its weird seeing you like this! I NEVER thought YOU'D get fat!"
I am soooo glad I have been fat long enough (10 years) to get people to stop talking how shocked they are about my weight.
... and I STILL will NOT touch any diet drink, I'd rather have water. I hate the after taste.
I used to say the same thing but try Coke Zero. I can't tell the difference between it and real Coke. I've done switched several people onto it. I kinda wish I had kept my mouth shut now because lots of times I'll go down to the Coke machine at work and it will be out of Coke Zero and I end up having to buy a Diet Coke. Coke Zero is disgusting. I hate the aftertaste. I like a clean finish.
dang... I sound like some soda snob... but I just like sugar (cane sugar) and hate that "artificial" tastse that lingers in your mouth.

Wasn´t TAB basically the predecessor to Diet Coke? Because Coke didn´t want to give the Coca Cola name to a diet product? I think the main difference is that TAB contains saccharine (sp?) whereas Diet Coke contains aspartame. We had a thread about this ages ago, when Prince.org. co-founder was still around. He´s a big fan and collector of all things Coke.
When Diet Coke started the TAB pink can was still easily found on shelves.
However to many of us the taste of Diet Pepsi was better than TAB.
So Coke outsold Pepsi but Diet Pepsi seemed to out sell TAB.
Once Diet Coke came along, I and many other Diet Pepsi drinker switched beverages.
The pink cans quickly lost their share of shelf space.
Pink is also girlie and fat guys and gym enthusiasts were O.K. being seem drinking Diet Pepsi but not TAB. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin. |

After reading this thread for the last few days, I was in the grocery store yesterday and bought some Tab just for old times sake to see if it tastes like I remember it. It didn't have the extreme "diety" taste that I remember it having. Actually, it was pretty good. I'm wondering if they updated their sweetener like the rest of the soft drinks have.
However, they didn't sell it in singles or a 2 liter. You could only buy a 12 pack of cans which was $4.99, the same price as Coke 12 packs. Hell, I'm happy with my Big K diet drinks from Krogers in the 2 liter for 89 cents. Andy is a four letter word. |

To each it's own. But I dare to say I wish regular colas brands would go back to using real sugar instead of the HFCS crap. Bring back Throwback full time I say!

Here in Seattle they carry the original Coke. Yes, real sugar cane and it comes in bottles. They sale it at costco by the case. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment |
