I don't. For some reason, Roland always rubbed me the wrong way. I don't know why but he just did. Again, he's the one saying "real bruhs wouldn't check for David Beckham in undies" but no "real bruh" would ever mention that shit on Twitter or in the barber shop. So SweetTooth Roland set himself up for that...
U serious Timmy? There is so much stuff on twitter that people have taken it to be their own private water cooler. I've been to barber shops and have had men talk like I wasn't even there. People, when amongst what they deem as friends or like minded folk, say whatever they please.
I don't think Roland set himself up for anything. He was tweeting shit like 90% of people on twitter do and he was having fun and the mafia decided to shut him down but quite frankly i think they have always been gunning for him and anyone else who is an "easy" target. Its not like CNN ever really had Roland's back. They seemed to silence him when he brought up that image of Obama portrayed as a monkey by the Republicans.
Did you see Roland's wife's tweets? She called it a high tech lynching of an "uppity brother" and I have to agree with her. She started getting hate tweets and then her account was deleted.
If we live in a nation where people can't even joke about sports and advertisements, and that's what he did, then this nation is completely fucked and we deserve whatever ill fate befalls us.
No organization and no one person should be able to get someone fired over a damn tweet that had nothing to do with them and did not contain any, and I repeat, ANY offensive and/or explicit and/or racist-sexist language especially when the person making the comment was on their OWN TIME and on a social networking site where everyone else is talking shit.
Of course he can. Everyone doesn't have to like it or tolerate it though.
I'm sure he has an employment contract, so he may keep his job.
His employer gets to decide if they want to consider employing him or not.
It is not a right that he is employed at CNN.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.
Really? I don't. He's paid for his comments. He should know better than to Tweet stupid stuff. Guess he understands, finally, that commentators are never off the clock, when it comes to their brand.
Who's brand? Roland will continue to work just not with CNN apparently and trust....CNN has no brand whatsoever. Its FOX and NBC all the way. CNN lost their shine a long time ago. They're like the Katie Couric of news. Roland will do what Keith Oberman did, he will get his own show on another network and he will be quite fine because his fans are loyal to him just as Oberman's fans are loyal.
And who gets to decide what qualifies as a stupid tweet? Was it worth firing somebody over? Are the gays that in love with David Beckham's $10 v-neck tees?
Like I said, they were gunning for him and are just exercising their power or rather abusing their power. They are trying to be attack dogs on freedom of speech and it will eventually backfire. One day they will fuck with the wrong person, probably somebody more famous with a grater legion of fans.
Lord help them if they ever mess with the Beiber.
That just sounds homophobic. '[T]he gays?' '[T]hey were gunning for him, they ever mess with. '
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.
Yeah. The fact that he typed what he did, it definitely wasn't some "harmless tweet". I side eye any comment on Facebook or Twitter that attacks anyone regardless of WHAT or WHO you are. That's not cute.
Ok so then that would be ALL the comments on Facebook and Twitter.
You either like something or you dont which puts you in the "WHAT" category.
You either identify with something or you don't which puts you in the "WHO" category.
If you guys are all for this nonsense then keep in mind you are not immune and your own job will eventually be on the line.
Sorry but I don't care for mafia/nazi type behavior no matter who is doing it. There has to be room in the world for people to have a general sense of humor about random shit without some group feeling so empowered and so full of themselves that they can tell you how to think and how to speak and when to do either.
Why does there have to be room?
You can ignore GLAAD, as can CNN, as can Martin if they choose to do so.
Would appreciate the NAACP being so empowered and full of themselves if someone has made a racist remark?
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.
Shes active in the "pray the gay away" ex gay movement like Bachmann's husband.
oh dayum whaa????? I thought she was just a life coach and one of those preachers that caters to women. You know...preaching to keep ya legs shut till he put a ring on it type stuff.
Now I see why he was targeted. They don't like his wife and since they couldn't get her they went for him.
Shade up to Shade down.
Here comes the conspiracy . . . .
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

If that's the case then why did he lose his job over something someone else didn't like or tolerate? His employer caved to outside pressure. Its not a right that he be employed by CNN nor is it a right that they punish him over someone else's misinterpretation of his joke during superbowl. The whole thing is still stupid as fuck.
I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT! RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer.

Well lets see here. "They" is a pronoun so i guess pronouns are now homophobic. The gays are represented by The GLAAD who tout themselves as representing "the gays" which is their own language. So somehow they themselves are homophobic by default. Ooh look two more pronouns. **clutches pearls**
Man you are really reaching. You're just trying to get this thread moved to P&R. Aint gonna happen playa!

Because a room with a view is a lovely place.
And as for the NAACP comment, it depends on who said what and when. Reality trumps Imagination.

I don't know why his employers cut him loose or at least suspended him.
It's their option to do so. If they choose to cave in to outside pressure, they are allowed to do so.
