Hey, there was a link to an old 2010 thread in the current "Fan photos w/ Prince" thread in PM&M, and I saw a pic of your daughter (when she was a wee thing) on stage singing w/ Prince in Houston on the Musicology tour! How awesome! Anyway, it reminded me to come back here and link to vote for her again. (hint - maybe you can use that pic to remind others too? )

I'm not much into country style, but I really liked the vid (and voted for her).

Apart from that (and, as her father, you'll probably want to kill me for saying this), your daughter is hot. Sir.

Sydney made the finals! She NAILED Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" last night. She played it on guitar, and sang. She really rocked it, too.

There were some GREAT performers. Most who made the finals sang to pre-recorded tracks. There was one girl in the Senior division that played guitar (and adjusted like a pro when she broke a string), and one little girl in Sydney's division that played a little bit of fiddle.

The judges asked Sydney about singing with Prince (I had put that down as her first public performance). She told the story much better and SHORTER than I ever have, LOL.

So the finals are next Tuesday, March 13th. We do not know what she's going to play/sing, so fire away with any suggestions.

On one hand, I'm really happy for her!

On the other hand, I'm afraid that this will take her so far up that my "Austrian funk-star" kisses won't mean anything to her anymore... The thought of it makes me weep...

Here is the video of her performance in the Semifinals. She made it to the Finals, which are tomorrow, Tuesday March 13th. She's going to perform a mashup of Jon Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" and Miranda Lambert's "Kerosene".
