Most Shocking Death Of A Character In A Show?

I was thinking about this recently, what where some of the most shocking charcter deaths that just totally caught you off guard... and made you say wtf?

MY NUMBER 1

Omar Little- The Wire, this is my all time favorite show. And Omar is my all time favorite TV Character! when he got blasted out of nowhere in season 5. By a youngin... that fucked me up lol

I mean Omar had beaten the odds so many times throughout the show, and he had all the hood rats & hardcore gangsters scared of. And he was done in by a kid! that was some BULLSHIT lol

Some Others

Tara in Buffy The Vampire Slayer

EVERYONE in Six Feet Under

Xena in well Xena lol

Shane on The Shield

Bobby Simone in NYPD Blue

Agent X in The X-Files

Augustus in OZ

Charlie In Lost

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

  • Paul on "The Big C"... disbelief
  • Warick on "CSI"... I know Gary Dourdan had legal problems at the time, but DAMN! They shot him in the neck! confused

From one of my favorite shows, Misfits, when Alisha was killed off when one of the spirits slit her throat neutral

That doctor on "House MD" played by the dude from that Harold and Kumar movie, that comitted suicide.

And...when James Evans died on "Good Times".

Sort of an aside, but to me still the most traumatizing moment on a tv show for me was when Cheri got locked in a refrigerator on "Punky Brewster" and almost suffocated to death. Second would probably be the episode of "Diff'rent Strokes" about the child molester.

Scared the shit outta me.

Although I only saw about 3 episodes of the first season of the show, I heard that Nate died on 6 Feet Under, which I found kind of shocking because he seemed like the main character in the show.

Sorry to be ''that'' guy and spoil the show razz

But literally everyone in Six Feet Under dies in the last season! but honestly... it was the perfect ending to a show dealiong with the death. And it wasn't a supernatural show... they where perma dead lol and after that no resolutions need to be made.

...The Omar Little death on "The Wire" didn't really surprise me because of the way he was living. I'd actually have been more surprised if he didn't die. But yeah, the fact that they had a little kid finish him off was very left-field and wtf-ish. It actually annoyed me because I thought it was such a shitty end not worthy of such a cool character.

I remember reading someplace though that the writers finished him off that way on purpose because they'd heard that the character had developed such a strong fanbase/following and they were concerned that younger people were looking up to him and glorifying him. Then they made sure to have Omar's death mentioned as a brief afterthought in one of the subsequent episodes to try and reiterate that the guy wasn't a hero and that's not the kind of life you want to lead and that he was basically a loser.

But I loved the character, probably my favorite on the series besides Marlo...who gives me heart palpitations.

The only show I've ever watched more than 5 episodes of was Twin peaks or x-files and I don't think anyone dying on those was unexpected :hmm2:

However the only thing I'd seen of David Duchovny before X-files was this (on twin peaks)

Was he called Denise?

Just some off the top of my head...

* Nate in Six Feet Under - Not so much that he died (we all saw that coming... or should have), but when he died. It was brilliant to take him out relatively early in the final season. That blindsided everyone.

* James in Good Times

* Rosalind in L.A. Law

* Edith in All in the Family

* Adele Stackhouse in True Blood

George on Grey's Anatomy.

I can't imagine a character death ever being more shocking in any tv or movie. The way they did it and being he was easily the most loved character on the show.

I was FUMING at the writers for weeks after the show was over. Even if you knew the actor was leaving the show, they had written his character to leave to be a field doctor in the army.

I cried and cried and cried and cried and vowed never to watch the show again. How could anyone be so cruel as to kill off George??????

But I still watch it. boxed lol

It was cool, but very sad...

Cathy was running a marathon, and as she got close to the finish line, she was hallucinating. She saw her dead neighbor, a friend of hers who had died, and Paul standing next to her son and brother.

She said, "You all came to see me..."

Her son said, "Yeah, everyone except Dad. Where the hell is he?!"

Paul was "with" the two dead people. They cut to another scene of the paramedics doing CPR on him and he's flatlining.

sad

An episode of "Third Watch" where one of the female firefighters was killed after an explosion.

They were trying to keep her calm until help arrived, and one of the men was holding her hand.

The camera pans out, and she had been blown in half, and was still alive with half a torso. omg

The Practice - Prosecutor Richard Bay murdered in the parking garage, without a doubt the most shocking and disturbing scene I have ever watched on a television show.

I don't know if it was shocking, but Tony Soprano's end was awesome.

Snoop on the Wire was good, too.

Well..... The way the final scene was shot (and some hints towards it from earlier episodes) suggest that Tony was indeed shot by the guy walking past him right before. There's a very interesting breakdown of the whole scene online somewhere. If you like I'll see if I can find it.

Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

Carroll O'Connor really showed his acting skills when he played the grieving widow. I don't remember much of it, (I was young), but I remember being moved by his grieving scene.

I just remember because Edith was not actually in that show, but they killed off her character. So her dying wasn't a sad way to remove her from the show, it was all about Archie's reaction to it, which was really devastating. I remember it too, and I must have been less than ten years old.
