Well it did say favorite.

Personally, I saw more than my fair share of disney movies growing up (without VCRs and such) but I have fonder memories of the long-gone movie theatre itself with it's balconies and drapes than the actual movies.

I could add The Breakfast Club to my list, too. Definitely my favorite Hughes film by far.

My first R-rated movie was Stir Crazy on video when I was 13 I think. Many of the R-rated films mentioned that I have seen like The Breakfast Club, Purple Rain, Conan, etc. were released when I was already a teen so I didn't count them. I'm old.

I had a hard time picking an age as the cut-off. It ended up not really mattering, because I have no memory of caring about or seeing movies much before the age of 12.

The Breakfast Club

American Pie came out when I was 16, not 6.

And I forgot some other favourites that I randomly remembered today:

Little Rascals

Matilda

It Takes Two (an Olsen twins movie)

All those movies I previously listed I seen as a kid...

Exorcist messed me up something awful. My mom would have us watching "The Movie Loft" with her when we were kids and we also watched lots of movies that were introduced by Vincent Price.

My mom just didn't think it was bad for us to see that stuff, she would just tell us to cover out eyes.

I remember going to the theater to see Scareface... that was the first movie we saw with my cousins sans parents. I fell asleep that movie was too long. lol

I did have a thing for Escape to Witch Mountain, and Herbie the Love Bug. The same people that tooks me to Sparkle took me to see Cleopatra Jones which left a big impression on me too, seems though I'd seen Sparkle first shrug me and timelines don't mesh.

No way!! lol
I should watch it again. I remember begging my parents to let me see it after a flyer was put up on the school noticeboard. I was in third grade then I think, but it was years later that I saw it and I really don't remember much of it sad

I can't remember anything too bad in it beyond innuendo that would go over younger kids heads so 9 or 10 maybe? Conservatively guessing.

Ottensen

I feel lucky in that being a 70's baby, we had an awesome selection of retro movies playing on tv all the time when I was growing up. Alot of them were played in continous rotation on one of the local channels at home, so Saturdays and Sundays were always movie days in my pink bedroom, drinking Nestle hot cocoa or eating Swanson's chicken pot pie. That was my way of chilling out when I was 6 years old. lol Every weekend (especially in winter when it was hella cold outside), I would watch:

Anything from the Blondie franchise of the 1940's

Shirley Temple minus those horrendous racist plantation movies...Shirley really was my friend in my head as a small child...

Bright Eyes (Shirley Temple)

Anything from the Jerry Lewis or Dean & Jerry franchise of movies

Product DetailsProduct DetailsProduct Details

Andy Hardy or Ma & Pa Kettle was also pretty popular on Sunday if the Blondie movies weren't on

Product DetailsProduct DetailsProduct Details

and then there was the Frankie Avalon Annette Funicello beach series of films

These were all franchises that played on local tv every Saturday and Sunday, so I've seen each and every one of the movies from each actor or duo, and I loved them all. TV was fun and wholesome in the 70's, and the retro stuff they showed was just rich.

As for the first real theatre movie I fell in love with, it all began with The WIZ---we were learning the music in 3rd grade, I'd already seen 10,000 amateur and professional versions of the play, and when I finally got a chance to see the movie version in a theatre, I happily nearly had a heart attack at 8 lol .

Then came

then suddenly, the Holy Musical Trinity of my childhood arrived pray pray pray

Life was a good time with movies when I was a kid coffee cool
