Oscar Gold: Viola Davis Vs Queen Streep... I'm a Movie-Fanatic and I saw "The Help" last year right before it left the theatres. I was gonna skip it until I read a review in this forum. The movie makes you think and the entire female ensemble did a great job. I was gonna check out "Iron lady" but no one is saying good things about it other than Meryl giving a convincing performance...
So far Viola has won "The Critics Choice" award for "Best Actress" and Meryl took home the Gold @ the The Golden Globes....
I Love both of these great Actresses. Meryl Streep is BAD to the bone and I agree with the Masses that she is the Greatest Living Actress of our time...Viola Davis is "the truth" and she's so Gifted as an Actress you want to see her in every scene. Hollywood is in-Love with her and I hope that Love turns into more roles. Viola is a "Power Actress" and she deserves to show-off her skills on the Major screen...
Whoever wins the SAG Award Sunday night will have a good chance of taking home the Oscar...I'm rooting for Viola but I feel Meryl's fellow Actors won't deny her a 3rd Oscar. I think Meryl will take home the SAG tomorrow night as well...
I think Viola's success and front-runner status will help her career wise and take her to the next level, but this isnt her year to win her 1st Oscar...She will win one day, but I dont think this is the year. I hope that I am wrong...
What do you guys think?

IIRC, Viola Davis was first nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Doubt. She appeared in one scene in that movie, opposite . . . Meryl Streep. I haven't yet seen The Help, but to go toe-to-toe with Meryl Streep in the climactic scene -- the only scene in which you're featured -- is monumental. I would prefer to see Davis win but would be happy for Streep. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Viola got the SAG which shocked me. I thought Meryl was going to sweep all the way through.
Now I guess it's an absolute toss-up between the two. The second black woman to win Best Actress or the greatest capping off a 3rd win out of 17 nominations.
I could see either scenario happening. Both make great stories.

Not only was it a shock that Viola won @ The SAGS but the cast won Best ensemble/picture..."The Help" might walk away with 3 Oscars..."The Artist" is still the front-runner..Havent seen it...

Viola looked absolutely AMAZING @ The Oscars...Octavia Spencer definitely represented Alabama...She was a "lock" so no one was surprised....The Movie Critics pretty much campaigned for Viola the entire award season...Very interesting that The SAG voters and the Academy voters are made-up of the same Actors yet the Academy voters chose Meryl...
Viola will become the 2nd Black Female Actress to win the Oscar. I don't know what year it will happen but I know it's going to happen...Mark my words...
