Not directly. I had my wallet stolen out of my purse while I was at a restaurant. I had noticed these two very tall guys in the restaurant (like 6'4"+) but didn't really think anything of it. There was a college nearby so I thought maybe they were on the basketball team. They sat at the table behind ours; the back of the taller guy's chair was right behind the back of mine. Foolishly, I had my purse hanging on the back fo my chair. At some point during dinner I felt someone pushing on my chair so I turned around, ready to be annoyed and it was the guy. I thought, "oh yeah, that guy is tall, he probably doesn't have enough room" and he smiled at me and apologized. A few minutes later I noticed my wallet was gone and so were he and his friend. There was a subway stop half a block away; they were long gone. I told the managment, etc. but they didn't seem to care, they didn't even give me a discount on my meal!

I am notorious for never having cash on hand so they only got $20 and a book of stamps, but all my credit cards, drivers license, and socical security card were in there, too. (For weeks I was scared they would come to my apartment and break in or do something to me.) They used one of my credit cards to charge $200 at a grocery store. I always thought that was kind of funny -- it was a Friday night so maybe the good stores (electronics, clothing) were closed.

I filed a police report and a fraud alert with the three major credit reporting agencies; my credit card credited me the money with no hassle, but they were never caught. Getting a new social security card and drivers license was a pain. I learned my lesson - 1. I never put my handbag on the back of chairs now and 2. I do not ever carry my soc. card with me!

i always do that with my wallet, now i am going to carry even less stuff and when i go 2 dinner no bag over the chair nod

losing $20 is not a drama, but all the cards, and house keys - thats the pitts!!!!

i was lucky she got caught, its satisfying ~ i hope oneday those 2 tall guys find their karma!!!!!

When I was like 12 someone broke into my parents' house and stole our TV.

It was scary because afterwards we found footsteps in the snow outside showing where he/they walked up to the Living Room window and were probably staring at us inside, (it was night) and when we left to go run an errand, they broke in.

the thought of someone standing by the window watching you, contemplating everything they are going to do and take is freaky as hell!!!! even for an adult 2 process, let alone a kid!!

back then tv's were big and bulky!!! how did thieves get away with it ~ it use to happen 2 so many ppl

now tv's dont get pinched ~ its all the lill gadgets we have!!!

When I was maybe 15 I was walking towards the subway through an underground walkway (classic robbery spot I guess) and suddenly two guys came up from behind and shoved me against the wall. Before I had time to even realize what had just happened, they were gone. I checked my wallet and it was still there. The only things they'd snatched were my gloves (that I'd been holding in my hand). I guess they were pretty nice leather ones but still - who robs someone to get their gloves? They must have had really cold fingers.

some ppl take the strangest things!!! i wonder if they knew they were taking gloves???

Oh, heck yeah. Several times in The Big Apple (NYC). I had two gold nameplates snatched off of my neck on broad day light. One had diamonds on it, one was plain. Also, I was on my way to work at night, I had a sapphire and diamond ring, some cash, and I believe a gold necklace, and a man walked up to me, appeared to be strapped and told me to give him everything I got. I did without a fight. At home, a gold watch and cash. I used to wear a lot of jewelry, but that changed.

omfg disbelief did u report it??? did they ever find the thieves??? esp the stabbed guy, he should have easily been caught!!!

i'd b 2 scared 2 go out at night in NYC ~ esp on my own!!! and i've never been there, its just from the stories i hear confused

No I've never been robbed, thank God, but in my city lately, all over the news, there's been reports of teenagers beating up old people and stealing their wallets or purses. disbelief Sad shit. Glad you weren't hurt or worse.

Funny I saw this thread today. When I was at my parking deck today, I was waiting for the elevator because I had to go to the 4th floor where my car was. The doors open and this young woman in the corner with, what looked like, some gym clothes on and a bag bawled up in her arms. I walk in, she speaks, I speak back, I push the Level 4 button and wait for the doors to close. What I do notice is that no other buttons are lit up, guessing why else would this lady be in the elevator without pushing the button for her floor...unless she was on the same floor I was on and just missed it before which is why she was still in the elevator when I got on it from the ground level? I got this strange feeling, the hairs on my neck were standing up. So we get to the 4th floor and I hurry out looking a little behind me to see if the lady got off behind me. She didn't and stayed in the elevator. You talking about relief that I felt, but also the feeling of being uneasy. It was strange.

they r all snakes!!!! confused

Yeah, maybe they thought it was a really weirdly shaped leather wallet. lol

Then again this happened in Sweden during the coldest time of year, so maybe they knew exactly what they were doing...

Or - again because this is Sweden - they might not have wanted the gloves at all but took them anyway just to "take me down a notch" (many people here don't like it when you have nicer things that they do - it's a political thing).

When I was 12, I was out riding my bike with a friend of mine. When we rode past a group of three high school-age boys, they jumped on me and held me in some insane choke hold while one of them took my bike and sped off. Never got my bike back.

I didn't know them and wouldn't recognize them today.

I'd hope that sort of thing was unusual enough in their lives that they'd never forget it. But, sadly, it could have been so commonplace that it escapes their minds over two decades later. confused

not long ago i bumped into this woman at a cafe, she actually recognised me, i was with my kids and she was with hers.

she used to be the biggest bully at school!!! so she comes up to me and says excuse me r u........from.......... and i said yes, trying to work out who she was cause she had put on heaps of weight and looked like my mother, anyway she calls her kids over and tells them "THIS IS MY HIGH SCHOOL FRIEND" spit

u wish u fat cow... u wish i said 2 myself!!!

so anyway, her kids r talking to my kids, she is talking 2 me, asking me if i remember this... if i recall that........ so i just had to do it and asked her if she remembers being the school bully lol

it was very quiet for about 5 minutes cool

I was robbed twice when I worked in a convenience store in the 1990s. I was also carjacked once in the 1990s. And people wonder why I hate the 1990s so much. lol

My last incident was probably around 2005 or so. I had been over to a friend's house drinking vodka and when I left his house, I still wasn't ready to go to bed so I stopped in a convience store around 2 in the morning and picked up a 12 pack of beer on the way home. When I was walking to my car, I was holding my wallet and the 12 pack in one hand while I was unlocking my car door with my other hand. These damn thugs came running towards me as fast as they could from across the street and one of them put his hand on my wallet as he was running by which made me jump and drop the 12 pack of beer on the ground. He didn't take it but as they were walking down the street, they were laughing and he said to the others "Did you see how that damn faggott jumped". Well, that pissed me off to NO end and I had been drinking vodka too. I thought to myself "These little bastards are awful brave talking that shit and they're walking and I'm in a car". I cranked that damn car up and drove up the street where they were walking and then I swurved the car up in the grass like I was going to run over them. They started running and I started driving faster. The faster they ran, the faster I drove. Then, they came to the entrance of some apartments and started running through the parking lot. I threw one of the beers as hard as I could and hit the bastard that grabbed for my wallet as hard as I could dead in the center of his back. I could hear it when it hit too. Then I yelled out the window...."Did you see that trash run scared for his life? You better be scared because this faggott will KILL your motherfucking ass!".

Andy is a four letter word.
