'A Dangerous Method'

It was playing a five-minute walk from my place and it has psychoanalysis and Keira Knightley getting spanked. So, I thought, "What the hell? shrug"

...And!?!?

Is it worth the time and money?

Plus Viggo Mortensen is a huge, huge douche. I really thought twice about supporting something that dope was involved in.

Besides coming across as incredibly douchey in interviews, he's one of those assclowns who runs around, talking about Israel's "occupation" of Palestine. Never seems to mention Jordan's "occupation" of same. Gee, I wonder why that is? hmmm

Don't know shit about his politics, so I can't comment there. I wish I did, so I could, so I'll probably look into that.

Otherwise, I could not possibly disagree with you more. He's quite and humble, intelligent and kind in every interview I've ever seen with the guy. People he works with, cast AND crew, come close to worshipping his awesomeness. He writes, paints, take photographs, plays multiple instruments and spends his own money quietly releasing his work without using his "name" to force it on the public. He's also a very dedicated father. In fact, I think your comments might be the first bad words I've ever seen spoken against the guy. lol

Douchiness. Let's be grammatically correct, here.

Throwing a rotten tomato at something is an indication that it sucks ass, so I guess that would be a "Nyet".

Nah. But I saw and read several other lengthy interviews for it where he spoke quite intelligently about the people and subject matter and addressed in the film. And that would still only be one press conference. Everybody has bad days.

It's recieved pretty solid reviews across the board, so I'm kind of surprised you would say it "sucks ass". I mean, shit, it's got 76% at Rotten Tomatoes and the people who rate movies there hate EVERYTHING. A 7.0 at IMDb, too. Not that either of those matter to me - I always decide for myself. Just surprised you seem to dislike it so much.

I really wanted to like it. But Knightley chewed the scenery and it was just...lame.

Again, I don't see it at all. Doubtful, but have you by chance seen the special features on the Lord Of The Rings Extended Edition DVD sets? I'm tellin' ya - dude is a cool cat. Pretty anti-douchey, in fact. Must just be something about him that's rubbin' you the wrong way. shrug

No, I've never seen LoTR; not my cup of tea.

Re: the TIFF presser: He took great pride in making Knightley come out with a Montreal hockey jersey and just had attitude to burn the whole time. I don't give a fuck's ass about sports, but he just took such angry relish in rubbing it in this town's faces...it was weird. And that kind of arrogance continued throughout the whole event.

I've learned to trust my instincts about people.

First and foremost, I'm not trying to change your mind. We're just conversatin' here, which is seemingly a lost art on the internet (and the org) lately.

No, no. Not LOTR. Specifically the Special Features on the EE versions of the DVD/Blu-rays. They're epic - considered some of the best ever produced. But since you haven't seen the movies, I think its safe for me to assume that you have seen the EE or the SF included in those sets. lol I think most of the 25 hours or so of them are on YouTube. lol

Regardless, I'm kind of shocked. He's just the most chilled out, humble guy. Works his ass off on set, respects everyone, loves his kid, doesn't partake in the Hollywood bullshit game. Maybe that's part of it. Dude has never been interested in that stuff - maybe he was messing with them purposely. Like I said, haven't seen it.

I'm not heavily invested in this man I don't know. But when I've heard him speak, there have been things said that rub me the wrong way (foremost amongst them, his attempt to paint Israel as an aggressor - that's just obscene and downright suspicious).

That year, TIFF was spotlighting Tel Aviv. He was one of the loudest voices that opposed this, on the grounds that Israel is "whitewashing...their illegal and inhumane actions". Yes, it's totally inhumane to want to protect innocent men, women and children from terrorist attacks. disbelief

It reminds me of this "pinkwashing" nonsense ('Israel's points out its embracing of lesbian and gay lifestyles to distract from its true, evil nature!'). This is not "pinkwashing" rolleyes, this is a statement of fact and the country is pointing out the irony of lesbians and gays advocating for a culture that is almost completely intolerant of them. It reminds me of what Bill Maher said about Obama and the Republicans ('If he told them he liked their smile, they'd shoot themselves in the face').

Not that this is the most serious of your complaints, but I thought the whole Montreal jersey thing was supposed to be a joke, particularly at the expense of their director David Cronenburg, who is a Torontonian.

hmmm I wonder if Viggo and Kiera genuinely pissed off a lot of Torontonians with that. I don't think they meant to.
