I'm reluctantly a fan, for now.
Lost and I did not end our relationship well (no point in asking - I made one post about it at a different site when the show ended and swore I would never say another word in that regard), so I have concerns about the way this show is telling it's story and what direction it's going to take. But so far, I'm digging it.
My major concern is that they don't make it about more than it has to be. Like, no aliens. Ugh. Please no aliens.
And they're going to have to move along both of the major premises of the show pretty fast for me to stay interested. They don't need to give it all away, but I'll need to know something about how they disappeared and apparently got stuck in the past as well as why there's a completely new hidden Alcatraz that they're being returned to after they're "sent" to the present, possibly with missions to complete.
So far, it's interesting. But if it goes on week after week, season after season with no big reveals that actually make sense, I'll bail. I can't do another Lost.

Oh, scared me for a second with the spoiler comment. I didn't post any if you've seen the first two hours. But the OP might want to edit the title to include a possible spoiler warning.

Nice post Cerebus-I agree that maybe they should at least give a clue how they disappeared and not let it drag on I agree that Lost did just that- it lost it's way and just got stupid.

Why didn't any of them age?

That's one of the BIG mysteries. Because the Indian woman, Lucy, was also revealed to have been "alive" "back then", but she was never a prisoner on the original Alcatraz.
However, Sam Neil's character, Emmerson Hauser, WAS alive back then, but he has aged.
Also, the returning prisoners appear to be disoriented and unaware of what is happening, but when they arrive they immediately start "doing stuff".
So what does this mean?
Theres's a group of people in charge at a level higher than Hauser? Hauser has just chosen not to stay young? Somebody has the power to time travel? Some other spatial anomaly is in play - something that was able to grab people in the past (including Lucy) and hold them in stasis? .......aliens? Is the group from the past working with Hauser, or is he working on his own? If he's working on his own, where the hell is he getting all this money and technology from?
I could go on.

Nice analysis yes I noticed Lucy last week and that Hauser was there in 1960 and hasn't aged but please no aliens guess we have to wait and see

No, no - Hauser HAS aged. Hauser was the younger deputy who arrived on the boat to find everyone missing, now he's the Sam Neil character who is putting them back in the new prison.
Also...
How did he know they were going to start returning NOW and have everything ready for them in advance? Why is he, seemingly, so pissed off about everything when, as far as we know, nothing was ever done to him directly? Why are they coming back to Alcatraz/San Francisco instead of, like, Paris, or NY?
Shit. I may just stop watching this now.

Soooo... what? Nothing new after last nights episode?
No comments about how dark it was?
No comments about all the new mysteries introduced? Like...
What is "Docs" secret from when he was 11? Why did he take back a dead returnee? Who the hell is that doctor? What is he going to do with the previously mentioned dead returnee?
Anybody started doing internet searches for the names, places, songs and numbers they've used on the show yet?
I like last nights episode because it was a little darker in tone. But there was also something about it that felt a bit clunky. As expected, more mysteries, no answers.
