Research finds a possible solution for tinnitus A year ago an article said that a new technology had been developped according to a new understanding of tinnitus causes, and that tests on rats had been successful. I had little hope but since then they announced that the results of the first tests on humans are mostly positive. What they now need is more time and more money to adjust their technology, test it on more people and see if it works on every one, and if the relief would be only partial or total, but it seems it's going fast cuz they're already considering the possibility of a working treatment being available for common citizens within one or 2 years.
Might be expensive, but those of us who suffers from tinnitus know that getting rid of that hell is priceless. It's the first time ever that an effective treatment is being worked on with some real results!

Nothing's 100% certain yet, but it's already a FUCKING GREAT NEWS!!! A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Ugh, seriously - a neuro implant is the best solution they can come up with? I was hoping it would be something that doesn't require surgery and constant interference with the nervous system. In other words something that cures the root cause, not just something that continuously works to alleviate the symptoms.
I remember reading about some kind of sound therapy where - in a series of treatments - they would teach the brain to ignore the tinnitus noise. It was non-invasive and seemingly permanent. But maybe that research eventually led to a dead end.
I guess for those who have severe problems even an implant sounds like a wonderful idea (and it probably is, too). But for the rest of us who have mild to moderate problems it sounds worth it to wait a bit for a less radical solution.

If I understand it correctly their technics combines BOTH the implant and the sound treatment: apparently it works only with both.
My tinnitus is moderate in the sense that I don't hear it when there's reasonable noise around... but it might evolve and get worse one day... and even though I'd gladly accept an implant if it allowed me to be able to listen to silence again... Been 4 years without a second of silence, I miss it... A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Question to those with Tinnitus. Are you also on a medication?
My mother suffered daily for many years and by tracking it's beginnings we were able to see that her Tinnitus, coupled with headaches surfaced about the same time she started blood pressure pills. After years of this, she just recently had her BP meds changed and the Tinnitus now surfaces very very rarely. She is a new person.
