Is it wrong to not be close to your family members?

I don’t mean Mother, Father or siblings I mean mostly grandparents, cousins, etc. I never really hit it off with them growing up….. lol

No.

I was always fond of my grandparents but honestly most of my cousins I don't know that well and some of them I'm not all that crazy about, but I'm pleasant and can tolerate them for short periods. I think it's mutual, too; I don't think they'd ask me to go hang out with them, either. lol

Hell nah! There's nothing wrong with it. I have many family members who I'm not close to because they are assholes. Others are okay but I just choose to have a distant relationship with them. Whatever makes you comfortable. I only have close relationships with immediate family. I find that brings less drama into my life.

KingBAD

you can pick your friends

and whom you would build your family with

BUT you just can't pick your family.

and in most cases, it's your family that

can do the most harm, without takin

any responsibility...

To me, that family bonding is lacking in many homes.

I was closer when I was younger, now not so much, and if we talk, I don't really feel a connection like I once had. The most I feel it with is my grandma from my mom's side though.

I am not all that close with my siblings. We all get along fine when we see each other, but none of us ever go out of our way to talk or get together. My siblings and I are also pretty different from each other, and it makes it pretty hard to bond, I think. I actually am better at keeping in touch with some members of my extended family (cousins, aunts, uncles, etc).

neutral i am not close to most of my family, sad as sad as it makes me, it's for the best i think. because they usually only cause me pain and suffering. i love all of them, but they are the most hateful, cruel, and rude group of people i have ever met in my life! sigh after trying MANY times throughout my life to get along with them, and go the extra mile. i have come to the point where i just don't want to deal with all of their drama. so i pray for them, and i keep on moving....rose

no.

I'm not close to any of my cousins. And I loathed all the aunts and uncles who on my dad's side of the family but one, when they were still alive.

I feel no guilt about it either. shrug
