I was initially BLOWN AWAY by some of the stuff I was reading that my nephew wrote on his Facebook account. I mean, this stuff was BEYOND disturbing (...not to even mention; this kid was covered in tattoo's from neck to toe by the time he was 16). When I brought it to the attention of his parents and asked them if they were aware of the things he was saying on the Internet, they basically ignored me, then later became offended that I had anything to say about the sick & twisted shit he was saying. So, at least from my experience, some parents ARE aware of what their children are saying on line, but basically don't give a shit (...or otherwise think it's not worthy of their attention).
IMHO, this kid will be in Federal prison by the time he's 21.
Whoa.
That must make you feel frustrated and helpless, I mean who really wants to see their family members go down the wrong path? Lord have mercy.

I doubt they do. Same with anyone with Twitter and TUMBLR accounts. Mainly for those under 18 but even some over 18 need to be monitored too. |

You would be amazed how many Tumblr pages belong to teenagers. Tumblr pages filled with violence, nudity, sex, drugs, etc. My 16 year old nephew has one of 'em and he regularly updates it while at school on his iPhone. |

Man, when I was a kid (...back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, lol) you never saw one ounce of nudity, except maybe in a painting, or perhaps an occasional page from a "dirty" magazine or newspaper blowing in the wind as you walked down the streets (which I promptly chased down, folded up, and stashed in my pocket, lol). And there was no way in Hell you were getting into an R-rated movie without your parent standing right next to you (...with PROOF they were your parent), lol. I don't know in which way, but I think my life would be very different today if I had grown up in the age of the Internet, where all forms of sexuality and violence is right there for any kid with a computer or phone to see. This shows you how dangerous the Internet can be. While everyone is panicking over proposed bills and treaties to treat piracy and the like, I'm more scared of how many people under 18 think they can get away with a LOT of bullshit. It makes me wish we didn't have the Internet sometimes because some things are just not worth it. I make sure when I post on TUMBLR that if you're under 18, don't even follow me because I'm not age-appropriate for them to follow and it's a waste of time for them to do that since all that stuff can be posted on there. There was a bunch of TUMBLRs that actually had ILLEGAL activity on it (like those photos) and it took a while for the site to finally take them down. The internet is just gonna get scarier as time goes on. |

Yeah makes me wish we were back in those times when you could sneak an occasional Playboy in your room knowing damn well you shouldn't be looking at it. People just do whatever online! |
