Do parents NOT moniter their kids' FB pages or what??? SERIOUSLY!!!
Like some of the stuff I see 13 or so year old girls putting on their pages.....and it's not like their parents are clueless to networking. I mean some of them I know have their own FB's. OMG. I cannot believe some of the stuff I read. My poor kids are gonna HATE me when they get older because they're not going to be slipping shit past me.
UGH. Seriously Frustrated. I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure

You're a good mom, do what you think you ought to do, don't bow to the peer pressure. And yes a lot of parents monitor their kids, it's the few who don't who seem to stand out.

My kids are young to have any of that kind of stuff yet.
I'm just sick in my stomach over this girl that OD'd the town over the other day. So there were all these stories about her last FB post being something about being high on heroin and wishing it would last forever....so I checked it out and it's true. I never heard of the girl but recognized several of the names of kids who post on her wall....a couple of them being friends of mine's children.
A lot of the girls posts were about being kicked out of rehab and court dates and all this other stuff. It makes me so sad. All these kids talking about screwing this guy and that guy.......WHERE ARE THESE KIDS PARENTS??????? I could cry. God when we were 15 we were worried about our parents finding out we walked the train tracks to the next town over for an ice cream cone. I can't take it. I hear you - and agree. I was absolutely appalled that my nephew had a Facebook page at 9 (way too young IMO) and the thing was wide open. I mean...searchable on Google, for crying out loud! (Deactivating the Google search is the very least a parent should do.)
But then, my sister is a complete wuss when it comes to my nephew. All he has to do is pitch a fit and she knuckles under. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Ain't that the truth?! I never got away with anything, because I had three younger sisters who would rat me out in a heartbeat. Bitches. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I know. I just had to have a talk with my 8 yr olds son father about allowing him to just go on the computer over at his house without any supervision. He said well he's just playing games online, he's not doing anything bad. Well nooooo, not intentionally but shit comes up, you click on it, and then BAM. My son said he was watching skateboarding videos on youtube while his dad was in another room doing whatever. Shit...I don't even let my son look up his spelling words on the school website without me sitting RIGHT THERE.

my son has a facebook page, he's 7, but he uses it to talk with his family that lives in brazil. and i have all the privacy settings set where everything is private, people can't even leave a comment on his wall or anything. safety online is a huge concern, that's why i check everything out.

My niece, bless her heart, got in trouble for making an fb page, then I saw her on one at her Nana's under a different name.
Did I tell my brother? HELL YES. Busted that lil girl. She will be doing it again, I have no doubt, but she also called my son "her crazy cousin", and I don't play that. Even if she could have one, I woulda busted her out on something, for that alone.
Problem is, her grandparents (not Nana) got all the grand kids LAPTOPS for Christmas. Welcome to hell, my brother, welcome to hell.

Parents do. But, sadly, not everyone with kids parent.

My niece has had a FB page for about 2 years now - and at 14 was posting "provocative" cleavage shots that we felt were inappropriate.
We told her mom, and she threatened to monitor her page...but honestly I don't think that she really cared much. Too engrossed in her own life ("seeking happiness" and all that herself) to follow through with the threat.
My oldest is 13 and he doesn't have an account (nor the other 2). A while ago they wanted to get accounts to play Farmville and those stupid Zenga games.

my gran-daughter and niece were actin out on fb (just the subject matter and language) and i had to intervene(sp) as it's possible that someof my other fam members may want to be a part of the political process in this country one day. i mean, nevermind that schools and potential career choices will be determined by whut is bein said today in their lives on fb.
i invited people to take part in speakin up when seein youngsters actout like that...
sence then they have toned their actions way down
btw, they were 17 at the time edit [Edited 1/18/12 18:57pm] i am KING BAD!!!
you are NOT... STOP ME IF YOU HEARD THIS BEFORE...

I did the same thing. I found my nephew's daughter (who is 11) posting on her FB page bragging about how she was going to 'lose her virginity tonight!' I called him and told him and he was furious. But now I see she's still on there and probably just getting sneakier. "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

I was initially BLOWN AWAY by some of the stuff I was reading that my nephew wrote on his Facebook account. I mean, this stuff was BEYOND disturbing (...not to even mention; this kid was covered in tattoo's from neck to toe by the time he was 16). When I brought it to the attention of his parents and asked them if they were aware of the things he was saying on the Internet, they basically ignored me, then later became offended that I had anything to say about the sick & twisted shit he was saying. So, at least from my experience, some parents ARE aware of what their children are saying on line, but basically don't give a shit (...or otherwise think it's not worthy of their attention).
IMHO, this kid will be in Federal prison by the time he's 21.

The way some parents enable their kids' bad behavior and pretty much guarantee them a mediocre and/or incarcerated life...THAT is child abuse. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Whoa.
That must make you feel frustrated and helpless, I mean who really wants to see their family members go down the wrong path? Lord have mercy.
