i hope i can say this without making people upset, however, i am aware that a few people here sent actual gifts but only recieved a x-mas card themselves as a gift. shouldn't there be some kind of rule that you at least have to send the person an actual gift other than a x-mas card? i am not a materialistic person in any way, but if you sign up for secret santa you are aware that you are supposed to send an actual gift to the person right? and if you fall upon hard times and are unable to send a gift still, you should contact kevin and make him aware of that, so that he can assist you in some way. just my thoughts on the topic, because i don't think it's fair for someone to be thoughtful and send a handmade or bought gift, and just get a hand scribbled x-mas card in return. i'm not naming names, or pointing fingers at anyone. happy new year. peace.

My first year(2007) I didn't receive a gift OR a card, my SS said they had had car issues... I said, that's fine, a card or letter would make me happy, didn't receive either :-( I decided not to participate in 2009, but was sent a beautiful gift from a orger who wanted to give and not receive (buttah) :touched: Restored my faith in the process :-) The four yrs I have participated I had 2 orgers I didn't know that well, and 2 I regard as good friends.... Shopping for all 4 was fun! This year, I received a book token, which I have just redeemed for a much needed book light (my long suffering hubby might get some sleep now  )Love the orgs SS, Ren, and Ocean b4 him do a fantastic job seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before   | |

I loved shopping for my Santees, both last en this year.
And the receiving of the gifts is sooo wonderful, both last and this year. I loved my gifts! truly apreciated the efforts and am still listening and wearing and using the beautiful gifts I've received.
Secret Santa has treated me well and I really love both giving and receiving the presents.

Last year I screwed up on my banking and was unable to send a gift to my giftee on time. I did email her and kept in touch with her. I think I sent it out in early January (the items had been bought in December but I did not have the money to send it to England). So anyway for being patient I added some "secret cupid" presents aswell.
i don't know, maybe we should have an emergency fund or back-up too. I hate the thought of anyone not getting a present- EVER. If you mess up your finances you could be "secret baby new year" "secret cupid" "secret leprechaun" "secret fertility bunny" no one cares but the fun is over when u don't play fair. I really don't see an "emergency fund" or backups coming to play. Too complicated, I'm sure that Ren has ENOUGH to contend with!
