Las Vegas

Is Las Vegas as good as it seems? Am going in November and wonderd if anyone could tell me if it is as good as you hear about. Have always wanted to go.

Never been myself, but it's one of those things that you have to experience at least once in your life IMO.

They've got legalized prostitution & Wayne Newton.

The only thing is,
you'll probably have to travel outside of Las Vegas proper for the prostitution,
and I'm not sure if Wayne is performing anymore.

However,
from what I understand,
those Pawn Stars guys are near there, so,
you could probably drop in there & maybe haggle for stuff that could, y'know, somehow replicate for the experience of the two.

I totally agree with this, if by "2-3" days you mean "get there Friday around 5, and leave right after Sunday brunch." I can't take more than that.

If Purple Reign is still performing there, that's worth going to see

I am not into gambling or eating crappy buffet food, but hotel rooms are cheap and the lights are pretty and it's always warm, and I think it's kind of nice walking around window shopping. It can get pretty crowded though.

If you have spare cash (or win big) treat yourself to a helicopter ride into the canyon, it's really quite something.

Vegas? Better go now while you can still get a shower - major water problems on the horizon.

Go and see the prince and the time tribute at hooters casino. That was my highlight. I don't gamble, I was wowed by then ambition of the hotels, the bellagio fountains and the pool parties are great but overall. Some great restaurants too. If you like steak, try Bobby flay's (can't remember the name) in Caesars palace. If you like gambling you'll love all of it. Where are you staying?

If you drink then it's def alotta fun. Haven't really been there sober except for when we arrived in the car from LA...LOL

Would agree with the others 2-3 nights max is your best bet. Hit it hard and split it.

My words of advice, don't take expensive cameras with you in your pocket when you're out hitting the town. I woke up in the morning in a strip club with mine missing from my pocket. It was light outside, the patrons had all left and the cleaners were at work haha!

Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

I love it and I don't understand the joy of gambling. There's a lot to do for all kinds of taste. Much like a disneyland for grown ups.

I use to love Las Vegas but the last couple of times I've gone it has been very disappointing.

My girlfriend, her husband and her 22 year old daughter went this past weekend for one night. It cost them $600. They stayed at the Mirage, got a decent rate. They played video poker, no free drinks. The resort charged them for their daughter to have breakfast because she was a guest in the room, but she had left that am at 4 am to fly back to Montana.

To add insult to injury, they each had 3 drinks, costing a total of $100 and the drinks were watered down. They didn't even get a buzz.

For me, I just find the entertainment there to be zzz now, but I will admit it's in part, due to the fact that I'm totally spoiled having seen Prince in LV many times.

The gambling is not fun at all anymore. I've never been a big gambler, but I would always hit some kind of money on the slots. Now, they really just take your money. It use to be fun, but now it isn't.

Las Vegas has never been "cheap", but never, in the 12 years I've been going, has it been as expensive as it is now with little to no bang for your buck.

I love Vegas. Haven't been there in about 5 or 6 years, but I've been there dozens of times in the past. I usually book a roomy jacuzzi suite with a view of the strip for a couple of nights and really unwind - do the spa treatments and the whole nine. I often wind up spending more time in my room ordering room service than in the casino's, lol. The buffets are a real treat too. Everyone you meet in Vegas is there to just party and have fun (...except those who live & work there, who seem largely oppressed to me). It's a great place to let your hair down and have fun. Moreover, people are easily approachable there because most everyone is from somewhere else looking for the same thing you are - to have as much fun as possible. And by the next day, you'll likely never see those people again in your life. By the time you leave you'll understand the motto: What happens in Vegas STAYS in Vegas, lol.

Though as some have mentioned, 2 or 3 days max is about the right amount of time to spend there. Any longer than that and Vegas begins to wear you out, and the sparkle begins to fade. It's best to take Vegas in small doses, it's THAT potent. I stayed there for an entire week once, and that's WAAAAAAAY too long, lol. The magic begins to wear off and you begin to see the seedy side of Vegas after more than 3 or 4 days. Because that town does NOT stop, lol. To me, it's more of a 24/7 town than even NYC, just not as big.

Also, do yourself a favor. Decide before you go EXACTLY how much money you are willing to LOSE, and when your reach that amount... STOP. Make a budget for exactly how much you'll spend per day, and don't ever think you might get "lucky" and win big. I don't gamble, so I've never lost more than $100 there just playing various games. Be very careful, because Vegas has been designed and fine tuned to separate you from your money. No clocks in the casino's, so you lose track of time, lots of free alcohol to keep you loopy, and fresh oxygen being constantly pumped into the rooms to keep you awake and SPENDING, no matter how disorientated you may become, lol.

HAVE FUN.

I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't been in a few years, but hope this was not a typical experience of what Vegas has become. My nephew was there as recently as two months ago and seemed to have had a blast.

Thanks, I'm sure that in many ways Vegas hasn't changed and I have.
