The home, itself, was not worth $12 million. The property is worth $9 million - the house was $2.6 million. Still not chump change - but not the same as the house being worth that.

More reports on the story coming out say that the house in and of itself was only currently worth $500,000, but it sat on $11.5 million worth of land. If that's true, then having lived in Florida and having gone through the termite nightmare myself, I don't blame 'er for tearing that sucker down an just starting all over .

Frankly, I don't care if it was 500,000, 2 million.. whatever....I'd still level it my damned self because the termite situation in Florida (with many homes that were never built properly to code) is not a joke. Essentially, without displacing yourself for a month and investing hundreds of thousands for tenting (not to mention the cost of bringing that structure up to code), she really might as well scrap that mess and start over. Otherwise it's just going to be eaten to ground anyway along with everything in it. In any event, it's her money, not mine, so I'm not trying to count it
