The only line I ever crossed was to cry in front of my boss. (Not sobbing - just tearful.) Fortunately, it was a female boss - and I think she understood.
Since then, however, I've made it a point never to talk to a manager without having a tight lid on my emotions. Better to just clam up and say nothing, than to lose control like that. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I know it might seem an obvious answer to my question but.... So did you get fired???

Well, it depends on the kind of rapport you have with him. Did he seem offended? I used to work for a man whom I had no problems expressing myself to. Our offices adjoined, and if his door was open, he could just speak in a normal tone of voice and I could hear him just fine. One day he said, "Pat, will you get Dr. So and So on the line?" I shot back, "Is you hand broke?" He wouldn't get mad, he'd just look at me and grin. He was originally from Granada, and spoke with a slight "Patois." One day he and another doctor from Trinidad were giving me some instruction on residency evaluation scoring, and my boss said, "I guess a score of 3 will be sufficient." and I said, "THREE?! You sure you don't wanna change that to TREE?" They both fell out.

Yeah, my boss has talked about "finger fucking" and how "all babies masturbate" with me so I am pretty much in the same boat. My Legacy

When I worked in retail my boss talked to me about how customers would come in and mess up the tie displays because they had to touch all the merchandise.
He would say why must the customers "finger fuck" every damn thing they see?!
But uh... otherwise... um... yeah, that's awkward!
Baby's masturbating convo... like, where do you go from that sentiment? Do you say... do you have kids? Did you watch? Did you let the baby just have at it or did you stop him/her?
just creeepppaaayyyyyyyyyy.

Yes, at least your bosses "fingerfucking" comment makes sense.
I will give you the context for mine, and tell me if it makes any sense:
She mentioned a story in the news where a 12 year old boy had been charged with raping a girl, and she was understandably outraged. She said "When we were kids in my day we did not rape each other!! [then quietly] ....well...we finger-fucked each other..."
So aside from the fact that there is no circumstances at work at which it's appropriate to say stuff like that, what the fuck did she mean?!
Generally with comments like that I am speechless. I didn't respond to either one, because there is nothing I could say! My Legacy

Um damn.... I'd have that whole "deer in the headlights" response too...
awkward and creepay... I wonder if that falls under sexual harassment? It surely is TMI.

Could you image if you were not shocked and said something like "So you walked around with fish stick- fingers, or did your fingers just smell like ass all the time?"
Its one of those moments you wish you could turn back time and just have at it to see the response...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
yeah with comments like that, you can just imagine what some reasonable responses to them might be.
"Oh you too? Yeah I used to finger rape hella girls when I was 12!!! Best thing since watching a baby pleasure itself!" My Legacy

My friends daughter was not even 2 and she would bring herself to orgasm obsessively and repeatedly. She took the kid to the doc who said ignore it or she'll get a complex. I think one day it went too far (the kid was doing it under the glasstop dinner table when they had dinner guests. Kid was told only to do it when she was alone. She is about 10 now, pretty well adjusted kid too. a whore in sheep's clothing

I wouldn't know how to handle that situation if my little girl was so.... dexterous.

I think that when my daughter was a baby, she used to rub herself.
I remember when she was in the car seat, she'd stretch her little legs and kind of "hump" the bar that the seatbelt went into.
It was one of those things that I would say "No...she can't be...could she?" We asked the pediatrician (indirectly) and he said not to worry about it. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

the point is not so much whether or not she was correct, but rather, how does that statement come up in an office situation, and doesn't the boss have more important things to worry about? My Legacy
