Hairstyle Men [img:$uid]http://www.joy2day.com/fashion-and-showbiz/men-corner/hair-styles/spikes/images/2011-long-hair-men-spikes.jpg[/img:$uid]
First of all, how do you like this hairstyle? For those of you who know how I look, do you think it would look good on me?
I have quite a similar haircut already, I just want to make it look even more defined and "assertive", if you know what I mean.
Secondly, if you had to describe this haircut to a (competent) hairdresser without being able to show them the picture, how would you do it?
I think, the main point is that the top is cut in layers. Many men with longer hair make the hair (on the backside of) on top of their heads the longest and comb them to the front, accross their foreheads (like I do now). In this picture, however, only the hair in the front is worn across the forehead, while the rest on top is cut shorter and in layers, which makes it looks more "puffy" and easier to style. My "problem" is, I have curls on the sides, which look horrible on some days, if I wear my hair the way I do now. If the top isn't "fluffy", the curls on the side make me look like an angel. And I don't wan't to look like a fucking angel. I guess this new haircut would "solve" the problem, as that guy seems to have curls on the sides too and it actually fits the whole scheme. I'll keep them long at the back, but not too long.

If you want to get the curls out, you need to invest in a flat iron... Otherwise you wont be able to achieve this look...

I think it would look great on you. I would take some photos to the hairdresser and if he is good he should be able to tell you if it would work fine with your hair. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

I think that hairstyle would look great on you. As for telling a stylist how to cut it, I wouldn't have any idea. Just print the picture you posted and show it to a stylist and see what they think. Andy is a four letter word.

Actually, if his curls are loose and not too tight, they might work to his advantage if he gets them cut shorter. If his hair is straighter towards his scalp cutting them shorter might bring out the straightness but with a little curve on the ends so he wouldn't have to do as much scrunching.
I'm just going by my own hair which is straight as a board but I had a perm once and I got tired of it and cut it all out once I had some straight new growth and just left a little wave from the perm on the ends. My hair looked wonderful. It kinda reminded me of Prince's hair on the "Raspberry Beret" video but my perm had been on top. I don't know how it would work on the sides. . . . Dave that style would be kewl on you. Go for it. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Thanks for all your replies!
His hair is not completely straight either and using a flat iron usually makes my hair way too light and weak - it would lose all the puffiness...
On most days, I don't have huge curls at all. Just hints of curls and curves, basically. If I cut the curls away, they will rematerialise on my shorter hair soon, and if I cut my hair short enough so that I will not get curls on the sides, I will look like the mullet haired poodle man.
So I need a bit of length on the sides...

I used to have a completely shaved head and I loved the feel of it. It made me look ten years older and harder, though. And the worst part was the stage you have to go through if you want longer hair again. Very, very short hair, but longer than shaved looks horrible on me.

Another tricky part is the back.
I need longer hair at the very bottom, so that they can be seen from someone standing in front of me, but they shouldn't make the mullet impression.
But what about the hair on top of the very bottom on the back? Shall I cut it shorter (like I usually do), so that I can style them too, or leave them longer?

Hmm the hair style is okay but I think you should have it more pushed back and off the face..like shorter on the sides and longer on the top. xoxo Would you run to me if somebody hurt you even if that somebody was me?

Can you post a picture as an example?
Do you mean like this:

I dunno... it does have that mullet touch a bit.
I used to wear all my hair pushed back from time to time, and some people liked it, but others said it made me look way too "serious".

Tell the stylist you want a layered cut that is the same length all over. This cut looks like it's 3 to 4 inches long everywhere. And then have him/her cut some texture into it (so some pieces are longer or shorter).
You probably don't need to use a flat iron - just use a blow dryer on the highest possible windspeed, dry in multiple directions, and pull the hair straight with your fingers as you dry. Do not use a brush or other implement - using your fingers is the key to getting it blown out with a sort of rough/random look. You might also want to use a straightening product - but be careful. If your hair is fine, it might weigh it down. (Redken Sheer Straight is an excellent straightener for fine hair, if that's what you need.)
The rest comes down to product, which I can't really advise you on (since I don't know what your hair texture is like). Something like Aveda's Defining Whip works great on my fine hair, but might not have enough "oomph" for yours. Talk with your stylist and try a few different things.
That cut would also look great with a little bend in the hair. So if your curl takes over, it'd probably look just fine. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I guess the first one is more managable but I really like the huge quiff kind of thing. It does depend on how long you have your hair on top..and this is totally different from the first picture you posted. I do think the zac efron hair would suit a variety of face shapes though. xoxo Would you run to me if somebody hurt you even if that somebody was me?

Very interesting about the layered cut with the same length all over!
Are you sure, though? Is the top really that long, because hair that is 4 inches long is difficult to style.
And what about the front? There seems to be some kind of irregularity in the cut. On the right side there is a part that is very longish, from right to left it gets shorter, longer, and shorter again. I see it in my magazines that people leave longer hair strands in the middle of their faces and cut the rest shorter. Here it looks natural, but I imagine it looking weird when everything's not perfect.

And it's definitely 3-4" long (I know because mine's a similar length). The overall look is achieved with cut-in texture and product. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I should also say that the model's hair has been ironed and pomaded like crazy. He didn't fall out of bed looking like that. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Well, "normal" is relative. I'd rather do what feels and looks best to me, personally, than go safe and just to try to be as "normal" as possible, so that people won't notice me in the streets. If anybody thinks I'm a "noncing cock" just because of my hair, that actually says more about them than about me...
