The play is excellent and has all the magic that Spielberg managed to omit. Running in the West End as we speak (London).

"War Horse".

No stars whatsoever. That movie was so depressing, and the horse was a jinx. Almost everyone that touched it died.

Do not waste your money on this one.

Everything you're saying like no stars, people dying, sounds like possibly great things about a movie. razz

I loved "Schindler's List" (1993) there was not one star outside of Ben Kingsley in that, and he was hardly a Hollywood star. It also went on to win best picture.

come to think of it, I just got "The Color Purple" (1985) on Blu-ray. At that time there was not one star in it. Almost all unknowns. Danny Glover was the blind man in that Sally Field movie, "Places in the Heart" and a bad guy in "Witness". "The Color Purple" has it's share of suffering and violence too.

By "No stars" I meant 0 stars out of 5 stars, or whatever rating system you want. You could have 1,000,000 stars in the ratings system and I'd still give "War Horse" -0- stars!

If I'm dropping $9 to see a movie, I want to be entertained. And I do not define "entertainment" as "depressing things". That's just me, though. Others like to be depressed. Not me. Give me humor, or excitement, or inspiration. But I won't willingly pay any money for someone to depress me.

My general rule on people dying in movies is that unless Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone or a monster kills them, I don't want to see it.

Mary & Max--I really liked this dark animated film about a girl in Australia who pen pals a man in MYC with Aspergers. I might have liked a bit more color visually, but the use of colors was effective nonetheless.

Sad, sweet, moving.

Red Tails - 2.5/5

Can't recommend it.

Cuba Gooding, Jr. was excellent. Terrence Howard did a lot of standing around. No big emotional speeches thankfully.

One dimensional characters and trying to cover too much ground. Action scenes were vintage Lucas-if you own Star Wars it will feel familiar.

Spike Lee's 'Miracle at St. Anna's' is a much better picture about African American soldiers in Italy. Covers the same ground; combat, racism, local love much better.

Really wanted to like Red Tails but it won't be in my collection.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I saw this today, and I enjoyed it. woot! Having said that, SUPRMAN's observations are spot on. If you enjoy action sequences and George Lucas style effects, or even if you like Top Gun-style movies, you'll love this movie. If you expect an Oscar-worthy dissemination of the trials and tribulations of the Tuskegee Airmen, you'll be disappointed. There's some scenes which touch on the real life events regarding racial discrimination, but they breeze by them rather quickly. Plus, even though Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard got top billing in this movie, they are just glorified supporting characters. If you like action, then definitely see this, but if you want an honest portrayal of the Tuskegee Airmen, rent the HBO movie that came out in the 1990's.

True story: yesterday I went to my local multiplex to finally see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol because it was sold out when I attempted to see it the day after Christmas. I was going into one of the screens it was playing on when I was distracted by this poster for an upcoming movie.

So anyway, I walk into the theater expecting to see Tom Cruise dangle from the Burj Dubai, but instead I end up see this:

Well, that's okay, because this was the only other movie I was really anxious to see over the holidays. I thought it was pretty decent, but a little depraved; sort of like The Silence of the Lambs when it first came out. Now I haven't read the books nor have I seen the original Swedish movie trilogy, which some say are better than this movie. But it's worth checking out. 3.0/4.0

Actually the American film was better, IMO. And I'm usually the first one to say foreign versions are better. I didn't like the Swedish lead character. He reminded me of a man on the verge of being an alcoholic. Not that he was, he just looked like it. shrug I watched all the Swedish movies...The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. I can't wait for the American films to come out.

The Bleeding House. lol I give it 1/5 stars. It doesn't even deserve that much for such a predictable, watery plot. I understand it was low-budget, but it read like a high school freshman's first horror essay. It just screamed "poorly written" to me. I'm probably an ass for saying that, but the way the family talks about their "issues" and why they're not a part of society made me think it was JUICY. It wasn't. neutral When ol' dude in the plcture shows up, it's obvious he's got some "thangs" going on with his bag, his story, and his...face. eek

I watched this movie at 3 in the morning. I was fully awake, expecting to be freaked out. This was a movie that seemed to abuse the art of bloody scenes to DEATH. There's an art to the slasher film and this thing broke the rules by being obvious, blunt, and rushed to make up for a lack of plot and a ton of loopholes. In the end, the craziest person in the family lives.

When i finished that movie, I felt cheated. I love a good horror movie and this wasn't it. It was the way the plot spilled out that bothered me. Nothing was as juicy as it seemed, the mother covered up for the daughter, and the father was a cotton ball. Waste of time.

Black Swan. Easily a 5/5.

What a movie! Really stirred up my senses; dread, empathy, arousal, loathing, all good stuff. Really recommend it.

Devil. Wasn't bad. 2.75/5. Above average.

Doesn't really matter who you try and guess as being the devil as it could be anybody. It knows you know that it knows you know, so with that in mind it was no point trying to guess anything. It just wanted you to sit on the ghost train for an hour and a half and jump and scream at the right moments. Wouldn't watch it again and would only recommend it if there weren't better movies to see. Okay for a Friday night pizza though.
