Another Gym Thread...when do u go?

...so...how many of us are sticking with our New Years' resolutions to hit the gym?

I am trying my hardest to go every week. On average, I'm doing good.

QUESTION:

When do you hit the gym?

You can go early in the AM before work, but that means waking up at some ungodly hour and then showering in their nasty showers, and worse still, dealing with all the old-timers who like to walk around and have useless conversations in the locker rooms with their junk swinging all over the place. (Seriously, what IS IT with old folks?)

You can go right after work (when all the hotties are doing Zumba) but then deal with the crowds, hunger pangs (from having to wait to eat dinner), and lackluster energy (from just getting off of work).

OR...go later at night, when the crowds have thinned out BUT you're full and sluggish from having eaten dinner, you don't get home 'til 10 or 11pm all wired up, and you're more likely to just say "I'll go tomorrow".

question

I work out 6x a week so it totally depends on my schedule for that day....but most times it's between 2-4pm.

Tonight I have to go late and I hate that....gym is full of massive juice monkeys at night.

I'm not working fulltime, so I go in the early afternoon four days a week. Two days of power lifting, rest Wednesday, then two days of light lifting. Weekends I take off.

I am not a morning person and since I get out of work late, I have to go after work. Weekends I go earlier. I am currently going 3-4 times a week, want to increase that to 5 times a week nod

Usually around 4 PM, but if I could, it'd be in the early afternoon 'cause that's when I really feel like working out for some reason lol I go to the gym twice a week and work out from home or park 2-3 times a week.

As I mentioned on a previous thread I currently have the luxury of having a gym almost entirely to myself, since there's one in the building where I live and I'm usually the only one to go there in the afternoons. Since it's so close by I also don't have to change or shower there. I just do that at home.

If it weren't for the above circumstances I probably wouldn't go at all, but as it is now I go twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays), usually around 1 p.m. I do a full hour each time, quite intensely, alternating cardio with weights. Again as I've mentioned on a previous thread I've been frustrated about what I now know is called "visceral" belly fat, but even that is starting to slowly disappear.

In all honesty I look in better shape than I ever have before and I certainly feel better than I did a year ago, but I can't say I have super high energy levels that can compare with my teenage years or early twenties. I still think the couch looks incredibly inviting, and even though I stay away from it, I haven't lost my appetite for chocolate and ice cream so that can be a bit frustrating too.

I'm definitely a morning person and would work out every morning if I could, BUT I'm not willing to get up at the "ungodly" hour of the morning, go to the gym, come home shower and THEN go to work. That's just too much. Plus I'd miss out on the great parking space in the front of the parking garage at work.

I go after work which is around 4:45pm. Sure that's the worse time to go because everybody and their mama are getting off from work too and hitting the gym, but it's the best time to catch all the hot men in the weight area. batting eyes I cure the hunger pains by drinking a protein shake at least an hour before I get off from work, so that way my tummy can be nice and satisfied by the time I work out.

I could do the late evening thing, but since I live by myself, I don't prefer to go late at night. I'm paranoid. lol

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Lucky for me, the wellness centre is in the same Medical complex as my pharmacy school. I usually go right after class's out, around mid afternoon. On the weekends, I like to go a little earlier, before I have to buckle down and study. Good stress relief.

But I'm def not a morning person. I tried and failed. disbelief

But I'm always moving. At home, I dance for God knows how many hours. Feel the groove. wink

OK...I cant reply to every single post (as much as I appreciate the feedback)...

...for me, I was going late at night (10-ish) with a buddy who's a legitimate gymrat. It was great cuz I was doing stuff I'd never do on my own, like benching and deadlifts. BUT, he likes to talk, and I'd be getting home at midnight, 1am, sometimes later. Not good when I need to wake up at 5:30am.

Lately I've been going right after work with another friend that I talked into joining my gym. But like others mentioned, the gym is PACKED at that time...which makes for good views on the treadmill wink but forget about getting anywhere near the free weights. I need to invest in some protein bars as well, 'cuz i get FAMISHED midway thru whatever I'm doing.

...btw...my buddy talked me into trying a Spin class today. HOLY FUCK! I didn't think it'd be that tough! I could barely keep up, and limped out of that effin' room!!!

Having a partner helps, that's why I would love a gym partner but when I mention the hours that I go, there's always an excuse from my friends..."oh that's too early (if on the weekends), I don't want to do weights and get all manly looking (then I have to drop some knowledge and let them know that weight lifting for women helps tone us faster, not make us look manly, we don't have testosterone rolleyes)" or they will agree to go then cancel at the last minute with some lame excuse. So right now I just roll to the gym by myself. Though I saw my neighbor this morning and she said that she's a member of the same gym that I'm a member of and would like to go workout together sometimes. So I'll have to see if she's really serious.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I just shoot myself up with performance enhancers and jerk off at home. My body is ripped from just doing that. I have a nice six-pack and my arms and chest are huge. I wouldn't recommend anyone else do that, but it works for me.

Tell us what gym you join and we'll set up a collection on the Org to hire a young, ripped, Asian personal trainer for you.

How's that for "inspiration"?

It depends on the day. On the weekends, I usually go a bit earlier because most folks still have a hangover and are still in bed or having breakfast. Or I go between 3 and 6, after I´ve had a light but filling meal. Breakfast doesn´t really give me the kind of energy I need, even when I eat a lot.

In the week, I go in the evenings right after all those EARLY evening hordes have disappeared. I can´t stand the 4-7 p.m. hours...too packed, too much noise, and too many people in the showers, no lockers etc. But the time between 7-10 p.m. is perfect for me.

Today I went there between 11.30 and 1 p.m. because I had a long lunch break, so I took my gym bag to work. It was ok but a bit too empty. And mostly old folks, and they´re very loud and racist sometimes but I stay away from them. The hot girls usually show up between 4-7 p.m, and I hate that timeframe and I´m not too keen on hittin on girls in the gym, never did that, never will but it´s still nicer when hot girls are around.
