I'm sure I'll be in the minority here, but I don't think he should be allowed to wear them if it causes any kind of a distraction. And this is most definitely a distraction. If he's already dressing that way with no issues the heels REALLY shouldn't be something worth fighting about.
Our taxes are taken in an attempt to teach these kids the most basic of educations (one which they're barely getting now).
School should be about learning. He'll have his whole life to wear high heels, ya know?
And keep in mind, I have no problem with him wearing heels, nor anything else he feels comfortable in. But I don't think it's fair to make it an issue at school. Its high school - if you're told you can't wear something, you don't wear it. My niece and nephew will be sent home if they wear any three items of the same color. ANY. THREE. ITEMS. (That includes belts and shoe laces.) No questions asked.
And if the "but the girls can wear them" card being played is the issue, then don't let them wear them, either. Cerebus has never been against a dress code for school kids. Whole lot less pants around some kids knees would have been taking place if dress codes were enforced. |
