Any Legal Eagles on the Org? Anyone out there know anything about common property law (in New York I suppose) and the rights of individual owners?
More specifically, when 2 out of 3 owners of a property decide to sell and the third refuses?
I can't pay an attorney right now and I don't trust Google.

Ex-Moderator | You should be able to google to a State government site to get official language for legal stuff. I've done it before. |

You can try to contact the New York Bar and see if they can point you in the right direction, or recommend an organization that offers low-cost legal help. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp. | |

Thanks Jone...I was a bit stressed this morning after having received a letter from a lawyer.
Now I've calmed down a bit...made some calls...and I'm feeling less anxious about the whole thing.
Just someone spinning her wheels. I'm not concerned (much).
But if I do end up needing that low-cost legal help, I'll be orgnoting you with about a million emoticons...

You're welcome. Good luck!
If you do end up needing an attorney be sure to ask about the costs (retainer, per hour, etc.) and how long they estimate the issue will take to resolve (ie how much do they think it will cost, it it goes to litigation how much are court/filing fees, etc.) up front to minimize surprises.
I had an attorney working on something for me this fall and he gave me an estimate based on what I needed, but when I got the bill it was about 2/3 less than he had told me! (And they gave me a $100 discount for some reason.) I would totally recommend him but he's not licensed to practice in NY.
