I dunno, somewhere tropical and beautiful.

However if must be a place that has a stable local economy and a government that takes care of it's own people. I refuse to go somewhere that has million dollar hotels and resorts but has little homeless children across the street begging for their next scrap to eat.

I feel the same so mostly I stay at local guesthouses and eat local when I travel so the money doesnt goes to big hotels like Best Western, Hilton and so on.

That's how I was trying to get rid of my bad feelings when I went to South Africa. That I was actually supporting the local economy.

And it's much nicer anyway to get in contact with some "average" locals. And I guess I am kinda an expert when it comes to that by now giggle.

So to answer the OP's question: of course I would have loved to spend christmas in Trinidad, everybody who knows me knows that too sigh.

Yours will look great too wink.

And at least you won't be hungry and freezing when it is the perfect time of the best light conditions like I was when I was waiting for the photos being taken lol.

I'd love to spend some time living in a Mongolian Ger, just surrounded by a vast expanse of blue sky & green grassland. Either that or to be in a cosy cottage deep in the middle of some beautiful springtime woodland. Ahhhh...that's me drifting away now... cloud9

he is missing it so much right now! he talks with his family through webcam almost daily, but it isn't enough. but the plane tickets for all 3 of us to go would be nearly $6,000, so we have to wait. sad maybe next x-mas? smile

Prague or Paris would be nice. I've thought for a while that London might be especially cool also, but somehow I'm sure it wouldn't measure up these days to the quaint Victorian Christmastime that I fantasize.

Well now that you've mentioned it I'd have to say, Italy. Though I'm not Catholic, never have been, I would find the traditions fascinating this time of year. And the food. Yep, that would be the place for me during the holidays. Unless it snows. I've decided me and snow can't get along if it's something I can't get away from after a couple of hours.

Hmm last year I was dreaming of a place like this cause we had so much snow and it was so cold

but now we haven't seen snow yet and it probably won't be there on Christmas Eve so right now I want a place with lots and lots and lots of snow!

Beautiful Bora Bora. I stayed there for a week last March. Those overwater bungalows have a glass bottom and I slept a couple of nights on the deck and just dropped in the water at sunrise. Bloody expensive though. It was a work trip. I couldn't afford to do it myself.

Bali would be my choice. You can have amazing luxury and it's really affordable. I stayed in this room a couple of years ago.

As much as I'd love to spend christmas in Trinidad with the man I love if it was not for him and if I was in the mood for christmas like I used to be in past years I prefer one of the nice old European cities with nice christmas markets. Bern, Zürich, Paris or my homewtown Vienna for example. On a warm tropical island christmas in not the same.
