Can you imagine the crowd's reaction when they heard Angle's music and he came from behind the curtain?? Total "mark out" moment.
Kurt Angle claimed over Twitter that WWE was trying to sign him for the Royal Rumble but that he was remaining loyal to TNA. Angle tweeted in response to a fan question about whether he'd be a surprise entrant:

JJ Dillon comments on WWE HOF Induction, Ole Anderson, and moreLast week, the WWE announced that the legendary wrestling group the 4 Horsemen will be inducted into the WWE HOF on Saturday March 31st. Longtime Horsemen fans were ecstatic over the announcement. Unfortunately, controversy set in as many fans were upset over the fact that the WWE was intentionally leaving out Ole Anderson, one of the founding members. In Ole's place is Barry Windham, who joins JJ Dillon, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson and Ric Flair as the inductees. On Sunday January 15th, I spoke with the famed Horsemen manager JJ Dillon about the WWE HOF induction, Ole Anderson and more.
Not only are wrestling fans excited about the Horsemen induction, minus the Ole fans, but JJ Dillon is also excited for the induction. The former manager of the Horsemen sees it as an honor and is incredibly humbled for the opportunity.
"It's an incredible honor. I'm humbled beyond belief. My career was a dream come true. It spanned 45 years and it was an incredible story." said Dillon who would further explain his relationship with Vince McMahon.
"What some people might not know is that I worked for the WWF in a management position for about 7 years. Unfortunately, things didn't end so well. I left the WWF, and I didn't speak to Vince for 10 years or so. Then I was surprised when they called me and asked me to be a part of Flair's farewell a few years ago. So, we're standing in the hallway and as Tully and I were about to go out there, Vince came up to us, shook our hands and thanked us for coming. That was the first time I spoke to him and it opened the doors for this tremendous opportunity to be inducted into the HOF."
The 4 Horsemen officially formed in 1986, but they had been loosely affiliated beforehand. However, it wasn't until after they were all told to go out and do a promo together, due to time constraints, that the Horsemen name began. At the time JJ Dillon was only managing Tully Blanchard who had the secondary title while Ric Flair was the world champion and The Andersons had the tag-team titles. During the promo, Arn Anderson stated "The only time this much havoc had been wreaked by this few a number of people, you need to go all the way back to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse!"
His comments stuck with the crowd and soon fans were calling them the 4 Horsemen and holding up four fingers. Dillon recalls that magical moment that changed pro-wrestling forever.
"It was not even a plan to group us. It just happened. We had all the titles and someone told us to go out there because we were running short on time and they told us to go out there. Flair was world champion, Tully had a belt and I actually I only managed Tully at the point. That grouping had all the titles and all the bragging rights. We went out there and Arn said what he said. It was primarily a group of young college kids in the audience. In subsequent appearances, the Horsemen name began to grow as the kids in the crowd were holding up 4 fingers and calling us the 4 Horsemen."
Not only did the fans reaction to Anderson's promo shock all the members involved but it came as a huge surprise to the promoter Jim Crockett. Dillon recalls a time early in the Horsemen's unofficial days that Crockett came up to him and asked about the 4 Horsemen:
"Crockett asked us about this 4 Horsemen thing. We told him to pay attention to the fans, because that is where it grew from. Eventually he did and the whole thing just took off." The 4 Horsemen quickly became one of the top draws in all of pro-wrestling. They were the best wrestlers in the NWA and they feuded with top stars like Dusty Rhodes and the Road Warriors. When asked what made the group so special or successful, Dillon replied as follows:
"We were in the right place at the right time. Once we started traveling together and this association grew, we realized, that we genuinely enjoyed spending time together. So, we did everything together. Even on are days off, we still hung out with each other. We all loved the business and were committed to being the best." The 4 Horsemen eventually changed over the years as some members left and others joined. It's this exchanging of members that has Horsemen fans in a heated debate over which group was the best. In fact, over 25 years later, Horsemen fans still argue over which group was the best. JJ Dillon weighed in on which version he thought was the best group of Horsemen.
"The original horsemen were always special. Ole was a great success story in wrestling. He had a great mind in the business but was very outspoken. I knew Ole for a long, long time. I understand him and have a personal friendship with him. Ole is very outspoken, and would have nothing to do with Vince McMahon and the WWF. In terms of the in-ring product, the version with Barry was the best. In fact it was the best that it got in wrestling. There wasn't anyone better than us at a grouping." Ole Anderson's feud with Vince McMahon has become a mutual hatred between each other, which is the sole reason why the WWE is not including Ole in the Horsemen induction. Last Friday, Ole made the...ce McMahon: "I hate his guts just like he hates mine. It’s no big deal.” JJ would go on to further discuss the inclusion of Barry Windham and why it makes perfect sense business wise:
"Barry's father Blackjack Mulligan is already in the HOF. Barry was a former backstage road agent and was also there when we reunited for Flair's retirement with the WWF. As a business decision, I'm ok with Barry being inducted. Some fans might not know, but Barry has been going through some really difficult health issues. At one point it was a really grave situation. Barry overcoming these serious health problems is just another part of the back-story, in terms of a human interest story of him being there. It's a wonderful story for him to be there."
Barry and JJ go way back. In fact, Barry's first professional wrestling match was against JJ Dillon on November 27th, 1979 in Odessa, Texas. Dillon has also known Windham's father Blackjack Mulligan for a long time as well. Dillon worked with Mulligan both in the ring and behind the scenes. When asked who he would like to induct the Horsemen into the HOF, Dillon picked Mulligan as his first choice.
"I would like to see Blackjack Mulligan induct us in the HOF. He's already in the HOF and his son is now being inducted. Mulligan was a man's man. He was as tough as they come. Dusty Rhodes was the second one to come to mind for inducting us, as Horsemen fans know that some of our greatest success came when feuding with Dusty. He was one of the greatest in this business. My third choice would be HHH, who's very close friends with Flair. He's somebody that I have a lot of respect for. He got his start in the WWF when I was still working in the office."
In addition to being happy for Barry Windham, Dillon expressed the most happiness for Arn Anderson. JJ talked about the sacrifices that Arn had made for the Horsemen and how he deserves the credit and honor of this induction.
"I'm happiest for Arn over everybody. He really didn't get due credit for everything he did in his career. He had injuries and just kept wrestling. A lesser man would have taken time off. But we were enjoying so much success at the time, that basically Arn Anderson sacrificed his health for us. As a result of that decision, it cut his career short. He deserves this honor. Arn was one of the greatest wrestlers ever."
Arn Anderson was definitely a catalyst for the success of the Horsemen. In fact, when Arn left in 1988 to jump to the WWF with Tully Blanchard, the Horsemen folded. It wasn't until Arn returned a few years later that the Horsemen were revived. Some Horsemen fans wonder how great the Horsemen could have been if Arn and Tully didn't leave. Dillon has a different perspective on Arn and Tully's departure:
"I think everything eventually runs its course, everything good comes to an end. It was just the politics, and it reached the point that Arn and Tully felt they needed to do something else. They had a chance to go into the WWF as a team with Booby Heenan as their manager. Who would turn that opportunity down?"
The Horsemen's in-ring days eventually did come to an end in 1999. However, the Horsemen's legacy still lives on in the annals of pro-wrestling history and with the legion of fans that still hold up their 4 fingers whenever they see a former Horsemen. After 25 years since the group formed, fans still revere these wrestlers. When asked why he thought the Horsemen are still so revered, Dillon had the following response:
"There was something special about that group of guys. Their chemistry was something special and magical. Even though we would go out week after week and get our butts whooped. We would come back with all of the gold and tell everyone about it. The fact that this was something special that worked far beyond anything's expectations 25 years ago, is the reasons why it's still so revered now."

DAMN!!! The dancers with Brodus Clay got some ASS!! *slurp* But what's up with Clay feelin' all up on JTG? What, is he a cross between Goldust and Rikishi now? Ugh.
So, I guess Truth is now back to shuckin' and jivin' and dancin' for the "Jimmies". Funny promo beforehand, though. I guess they had him win the match in honor of MLK day. But then took 3 steps back afterwards with the dancing.
It was good to see Foley actually "wrestling" in a WWE ring again. Though, they failed to explain why Foley lied so the ref would allow him in the match. It's not like he got to get his hands on Ziggler who ran a nice promo on him at the beginning of the show. I wonder if they plan on having him challenge Big Johnny for the GM job, since most ppl expect him to get that job eventually anyway. I will say, though, that Laryngitis is really growing on me. He told my stella Eve to "shut her mouth". LMAO!
As far as Cena goes, I guess he's starting to "let the hate flow through him", as Emperor PalpaKane is mentoring him to do.

Yeah, ever since this incident between Boreton and Kingston, his push went completely out the window:

Orton was fuming "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

The title said Orton was pissed at Kingston for "botching" something... I did hear "STUPID! STUPID!" but I don't know what he (Kofi) did.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
So he got mad at Kofi for botching the ending of the match. Was the match supposed to be Kofi's/Cena's or what?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I believe the botch came in at Kofi basically putting his head down and waited for Boreton's RKO. The sequence looked hella fake, and I THINK that's what he was upset about. Dumb thing to go to the back and have them cut off his push for, I'll tell you that much.

Ole was part owner of Georgia Championship Wrestling (which aired on TBS from 1972-1984) with The Brisco Bros. Jack and Gerry Brisco sold their shares to Vince in 1984 and the WWF took over the TV timeslot. Ole absolutely refused to work with Vince and told him about himself. After WWF programming FAILED MISERABLY on TBS (NWA fans refused to watch), Vince sold the timeslot to Jim Crockett (that was the birth of World Championship Wrestling) in 1985 for $1 million, then used that money to put on Wrestlemania I. (Google "Black Saturday")
I'm not so sure about Ole being a racist or whatever. I think you might be referring to Bill Watts. [Edited 1/19/12 0:33am] She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies....

Ole was definitely a racist according to Teddy Long and Tony Atlas in this Roundtable Discussion.
Bill Watts also defends himself against being called a racist. It's really a great show and they talk about some guys I didn't know about. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!
