The Power Slam 50...got this off of wrestlezone today. Lists the top 50 wrestlers in the world for 2011.

I LOOOVE the fact that 13 of the top 20 work for Japanese promotions (14 in you count Davey Richards). My only real complaints are 1) Tanahashi is way overrated IMO...he is honestly the John Cena of Japan (New Japan books him the exact same way). 2) KENTA and Christian should swap places. That's still too high for Christian, but KENTA is top 10, NO DOUBT. 3) John Cena doesnt even make the list? I know we're all sick of him but come on...he's at least top 50, right?

I know, right?! That could be a thread all unto itself!!

Sean WAS supposed to be hosting an WWE-sanctioned Royal Rumble party during the PPV next month, but he sent out a message saying that he was no longer going to be doing that. BUT, that he was going to be at some restaurant along with Billy Gunn, meeting with fans and shit. Hmmm, I wonder why he'll no longer be doing the WWE party. lol This is the message:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, X-Pac will no longer be hosting the Royal Rumble pre-party in St. Louis on Saturday, January 28th. However, he WILL BE heading to St. Louis during the Royal Rumble weekend for the Rumble after-party on Sunday, January 29th. The after-party will now feature Sean "X-Pac" Waltman and Billy Gunn at the Tigin Irish Pub in downtown St. Louis. "Hurricane" Shane Helms will no longer be attending the event. The party will start up officially at 11pm, but you can make your way to the event as soon as the Royal Rumble ends. The after-party will be the best place for wrestling fans to go on that Sunday night as the venue will stay open until 3:00am!

Tickets are currently on sale for the after-party at MyWrestlingParty.com. The Tigin Irish Pub is a smaller venue (only 200 capacity) so make sure you get your tickets in advance to ensure entry to the party. VIP ticket holders are guaranteed a picture and an autograph with both X-Pac and Billy Gunn. There are less than 15 VIP tickets left! General Admission is only $10 (in advance) and they are also selling very quickly.

Tickets purchased for X-Pac's pre-party can transfer over to the after-party as prices are exactly the same. If you can't make it to the after-party and need a refund, please emailgeneral@mywrestlingparty.com.

If you're heading to St. Louis for the Royal Rumble next month or live in the area, this is one wrestling party you do NOT want to miss. Party with X-Pac and Billy Gunn, a live Q&A session with both wrestlers where YOU get to ask the questions, a post-Rumble roundtable discussion, "The Shot Heard Around The World!", drink specials and more!

Visit MyWrestlingParty.com for details and to purchase your tickets today!

Wow! Christian's at #6?? I'm diggin' THAT!!! They even ranked him above Punk, who really only came to main event prominence during the second half of the year. But Orton at #2? Not feelin' that at all. I'll admit, I'm not too hip to wrestling in Japan, so most of the Japanese names go right over my head.

Go 'head. Take the botch out. She'll STILL - as always - come back runnin' to me. I just hope she doesn't get pissed off at you for something and call the cops and say you're violating the restraining order she put out on yo' ass. And you KNOW them cops don't play when it comes to the brothas! They gonna be playing "Little Drummer Boy" with their batons on your head, Grace!

I wonder how much of this shit is true. I mean, damn, after just one week they're basing this shit? It wouldn't surprise me, as they're probably looking for any excuse to possibly put the same ol' same ol' back into play, which is Cena and/or Orton back in championship contention.

According to a report on F4WOnline.com, WWE officials are considering taking the title off of CM Punk due to the low ratings his segments have been drawing on RAW. According to the report, there was talk of having Punk drop the title at last Sunday's TLC pay-per-view, but the idea was ultimately nixed.

As noted earlier this week, this past Monday night's episode of RAW only drew a 2.92 cable rating, making it the third straight week it has been below a 3.0. The overrun with the CM Punk, Daniel Bryan & Zack Ryder vs. Alberto Del Rio, The Miz & Dolph Ziggler match gained only 59,000 viewers, which is terrible. Dave Meltzer noted that the gain was almost impossible as people are usually tuning in to the channel at that time for the next show, so wrestling fans must have been tuning out in large numbers.

The main event ended up doing a 2.67 cable rating (2.55 for the first half of the bout), which may be the lowest-rated main event on Raw since 1997 for a non-holiday show in its regular time slot.

Ladies and gentlemen, one of the standouts of my roster.....Rosita!!!

Impact Wrestling star Rosita joined DD360 this week to discuss her incredible year since joining the company in January. Rosita fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a wrestling star in 2011, positively marking the 10th anniversary of her father's tragic passing during the 9/11 terror attacks. As fans will know, Rosita's father, an amateur wrestler himself, inspired Rosita to become a wrestler. Her inspiring story earned her the Pro Wrestling Illustrated award for Inspiring Wrestler of the Year, as announced by Dixie Carter this week.

Highlights from the interview below. You can listen at Diva-Dirt.com:

On her rookie year in Impact Wrestling: "It's been a crazy journey so far. I look back a couple of years ago, and seeing where I am now, there's no way I thought I'd be where I am right now."

"It's truly amazing to see where determination and drive will lead you. From people telling me, 'Oh no, you're too small' and 'You can't do those things that everyone else can do because you're so small', and you put those people to rest saying, 'I can do this no matter what'. I had Tommy Dreamer, who's amazing to me, from the very first day I met him — he actually was the one to say to me, 'I believe in you, I know that you can do this. Let's see what you can do at TNA'. Everybody at TNA has been amazing to me too, so I've been truly blessed on this whole [journey]."

On winning PWI's Inspirational Wrestler of the Year award: "I remember when I was first presented the award, I was amazed. Usually when I'm shocked, I'm like, 'Oh, my God' — I just lose my breath and I [get] lost for words. I just looked at it like, 'Oh, my God, this is amazing'."

"I just remember bringing it home to my mom and she just started crying. She couldn't even believe that her daughter — her crazy little daughter [Laughs] — actually touched the lives of other people to say that I'm an inspiration. It was an absolute honor."

The screen time & opportunities afforded to the Knockouts division: "I think it's super important [to have the screen time and opportunities the Knockouts receive]. Back to what I was saying about Hardcore Justice, I mean, despite the fact that myself and Sarita lost against [Brooke] Tessmacher and Tara, that was one of my favorite matches and that match alone was a good 10 minutes. When was the last time you really got a [Divas] match that's over two minutes in WWE?"

"I'm just glad that we are given that time to show everybody who we are and show everybody what we have. And everybody is so different -- you can look at Sarita and know that [there is] no comparison to Velvet Sky or Angelina Love. Everybody has their own certain characters. Everybody has something that they bring to the table."

"I think it's great that we get so much airtime to show that, and if you look, sometimes there's more than one Knockouts match. You're lucky if you get one Divas match in WWE."

On her on-screen cousin Sarita overcoming the difficult year she's had with facial paralysis & a nasty fall in Mexico:
"From the moment I met Sarita, you can see that she is just, from top to bottom, inside and out, tough. She's very tough. She's very sincere, and she's very sweet, but she's tough as nails. No matter what, she will always get up from a fall. She didn't let facial paralysis stop her from performing. She didn't let that fall [in Mexico] stop her from coming back to the Impact Zone and doing what she does best and I couldn't be more proud of her because there's just some things, people are like, 'Okay, I'm not going to go wrestle anymore after that' or 'Not my face, no', but she's not afraid of anything. It's crazy. That's another reason I look up to her."

I dont understand why Christian is so high on the list. Now I know this is based on in ring work and nothing else and I havent really watched Christian work this year so...maybe it's deserving.

As for the Japanese wrestlers, these guys are honestly the best workers in the world. Most are junior heavyweights, but Prince Devitt (he's Irish, not Japanese), KENTA, Kota Ibushi...these guys are MINDBLOWING.

How are the storylines and writing in Japan? Has to be better than WWE where it seems Vince rewrites the show up until an hour before the show starts and TNA where it feels they just throw shit out there and hopes it sticks

Everything in Japan is based on what you do in the ring. The competition is the storyline...it is seriously treated as a legitimate sport, with full coverage in all of the major newspapers, etc. There are heels and faces, but practically every finish is clean...no run ins, no outside interference. Now of course, there are storylines, but they play out in the ring...and in a match, not on the mic. There are various round robin leagues and tournaments throughout the year to determine top contenders to the championships, and the championships are defended maybe once every 6 weeks, sometimes less (which makes title matches a HUGE deal). For example...Hiroshi Tanahashi won the IWGP title in Jan 2011. He just made his record tying 10th title defense on December 4. (He'll break the record Jan 4 at the Tokyo Dome, then drop the title in Feb or Mar.) Things like this are heavily emphasized in Japan. It's all about your "fighting spirit"...how much punishment you can take. And these boys are STIFF. I mean STIFF! It's nothing for the most popular guy in the promotion to be beating the hell out of one of the most hated guys in the promotion, only to have the fans turn on Mr. Popular and root for the heel because the heel is showing "heart".

The "sports entertainment" side is definitely present in Japan, but mostly in the small, independent promotions like DDT (Dramatic Dream Team) and SMASH (part owned by Tajiri). In the past these were looked down upon, but they are becoming more and more popular nowadays. Hardcore is represented in these independents too...hardcore was born in Japan's Frontier Martial Arts & Wrestling in the 90s, but it's popularity faded around the time that it exploded in the US.

Things are set up pretty much the same in Japan as America, promotion wise. From the 70s on there were three big promotions: New Japan, All Japan, and All Japan Women (no affiliation to All Japan, AJW at one point was the oldest promotion in Japan. They opened in 1968 and closed in 2005, and from the mid 80s through the late 90s...WOW. Some of the best wrestling you've ever seen. Divas...you need not apply!). There were always smaller independents, but these three ruled. In the 70s, All Japan was #1, in the 80s New Japan ruled, in the 90s All Japan...then All Japan's owner Giant Baba died. Mitsu Misawa couldnt get along with Baba's widow and ended up taking the entire All Japan roster away and formed Pro-Wrestling NOAH. All Japan is still alive, but they are a shell of their former selves. NOAH surpassed them throughout the 2000s, but NOAH is struggling right now (even though they still put on the best shows). New Japan is gold...though NOAH outdrew them in the mid 2000s, they have remained consistent and on top...and the "Japanese Cena" Hiroshi Tanahashi is seriously the most popular fucker in Japan, especially among the kids and teenage girls.

Okay, who's ready to watch Raw tonight to see who's supposed to be "coming back"? I still say it's Jericho, as I see him somehow interrupting the Punk/Ziggler match to start his feud with Punk. Jericho's insistent that it's not him who'll be returning, via Twitter, playing jokes by sending different Photoshopped pics of him in various places saying he's not in Memphis today (the site of tonight's Raw). We all know how he likes to fuck with the fans, so it only strengthens my belief that it is him.

All I know is it BETTER not be Undertaker! And, it's waaaaayyy too early to be Brock Lesnar, since he supposedly just retired the other night after getting his ass kicked.

And let's not forget that Brodus Clay is, yet AGAIN, supposed to be making his re-debut tonight. rolleyes Right...sure. And even if he does, does anyone give a shit anymore (if they ever did in the first place)? I know I sure don't.

It better not be 'Taker, to come back, then appear at Wrestlemania then leave again until next year. Fuck that confused

Okay, it's 10:04 pm EST right now and only an hour into Raw, and I am completely unimpressed right now so far. They have my boy Truth pandering to fuckin' kids, Zack Ryder making cheesy ass jokes, and a 5-minute match between the World Heavyweight champ. D-Bryan and the Intercontinental champ, Rhodes.

I'm hoping this ItBegins shit begins during this Punk/Ziggler match (as I'm hoping it's indeed Jericho), and I also hope there's a satisfying conclusion to this Kane and "making Cena hateful" at the end of the night (read: NOT be the Undertaker).

^^ That shit was pretty funny. It seemed like he was going to be babyface, but it was so obvious after that that he was just trolling the crowd there and will no doubtedly be a heel.

Though, they still have to explain to me the connection with what was said in the ItBegins spots to him coming back. Who's the "she" that heralded his return? And what supposedly now "ends"? I'm sure it'll be explained in later Raws (yeah right...this is the WWE we're talkin' about here). rolleyes

From WWE.com:

For weeks, strange video clips had made their way into WWE broadcasts, eerily announcing that on Jan. 2, 2012, “It Begins.” This left the WWE Universe wondering what exactly would begin as the New Year kicks off. No one could have guessed that these clips were heralding the return of Chris Jericho. The former six-time World Champion shocked the world with his appearance Monday night in Memphis on Raw SuperShow. Though Jericho didn’t explain the reasoning behind his reappearance, he left the WWE Universe reeling, having surprised it yet again with the help of viral videos.

Before YouTube existed, Chris Jericho found ways to spread his message to millions. In the summer of 1999, a “Countdown to the Millennium” clock appeared during WWE broadcasts. Members of the WWE Universe who did the math figured out that the clock wasn’t ticking away the time until the year 2000 arrived, as it was set to expire on Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, months before the new millennium was set to begin. This left them wondering what was going to happen that night, and what it meant for the future of WWE.

They got their answer when the clock hit zero during Raw that night, when Jericho announced his arrival in grand fashion, interrupting The Rock to declare that “Raw is Jericho.”

Nearly a decade later, as Jericho prepared to make an impactful homecoming to WWE, he hacked into WWE television once again to set off a viral campaign leading up to his return. This time, Jericho was a little more cryptic. The videos looked like something out of The Matrix, as numbers flew all around, eventually ending with “SaveUs.222” flashing on the screen. Later videos showed complex math formulas and messages that dared the WWE Universe to “break the code.” Those with a few semesters of calculus under their belts may have been able to do so quickly, though the majority of our fans argued back and forth over the Internet, devising their own theories about what the “code” could be.

Jericho let the world in on the solution to the code on the Nov. 19, 2007 edition of Raw. As then-WWE Champion Randy Orton addressed the WWE Universe, Jericho filled in the final pieces of the puzzle, showing that the answer was “SaveUs.Y2J,” and that he was ready to wreak havoc on Monday nights once again. He did exactly that during the following three years, capturing the World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Tag Team Championships, as well as a record-setting ninth Intercontinental Title.

Despite Jericho’s penchant for the cryptic, the themes behind the videos leading up to his return Monday night seem a little out of character. Rather than rely on the mathematic, the 2008 Superstar of the Year went philosophic this time. The eerie videos show a young boy in a school uniform sitting at the only desk in a classroom, writing in a notebook as a girl watches from behind him. The videos speak of a prophet returning to punish the unjust, not to mention the beginning of the end of the world as we know it.

Members of the WWE Universe analyzed every frame of each of the six videos, looking for hints as to who would be returning on the second day of 2012. They found allusions to the former World Champion’s speech patterns within the narration of the videos, though this was not a rock-solid argument.

One of the clues found in Chris Jericho's mysterious videos. If anything, scrupulous studiers seemed to have come closest to finding an answer in the fifth video, when the boy’s notebook falls onto the floor. It appears that the name “Chris” is crossed out on the front of the book, leading to speculation that Jericho was indeed on his way back to WWE.

Still, there are plenty of questions left unanswered between the videos and Jericho’s shocking appearance on Raw SuperShow. For example, the fourth video refers to a mysterious “she.” According to the clip, “she” holds the answers to the return of Chris Jericho, and that when he calls her, he will begin to reclaim what is rightfully his.

What does all this mean for the WWE? No one but Chris Jericho knows, and until he decides to let the rest of the world in on his ultimate goals, all the WWE Universe can do is conjecture. Certainly, Jericho has left us plenty of material to do precisely that.

HA! And again, Brodus Clay didn't debut! To be honest, I hope he NEVER debuts, at this point. lol

From the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and the Raw Interim General Manager ( wink ) John Laryngitis's Twitter:

John Laurinaitis
And to those wondering why Brodus didn't debut tonight, I have my reasons. He will debut next week, I promise. Why would I lie?

Lol! I know, right?! Plus, everybody was chanting "Y2J", so even those dumb hicks down there in Memphis knew he was coming. And can I just say that the crowd there absolutely SUCKED?!

I wish they could hold Raws in Chicago, NY, and maybe Philly all year 'round. Seriously. The crowd in NY turned a bullshit PPV for Survivor Series into something pretty fun. And of course the Money In The Bank PPV in Chicago in July was made off the charts because of the crowd. But when you have dumbasses who look and act bored (granted, the WWE doesn't give you much to be excited about, but a good crowd would just let them know how much they're sucking) like in Virginia and TN, it makes the whole show lackluster.
