I'm sure it was very frightening and I know exactly how bewildering it can be when you have no one to turn to for help. But I'm sorry, this has to be said.

911 is for life and death emergencies exclaim

If you thought you were having a heart attack from the stress during the flood, call 911.

If you slipped in the water and hit your head and were afraid you might black out, call 911.

I send you hugs and understanding but this was NOT an appropriate use of 911 services.

I am surprised that they answered the call, not once but TWICE and did not ream you out.

Yellow Pages. Plumber. Look for ads that say "24 hour EMERGENCY call out service"

.

[Edited 12/11/11 13:31pm]

rolleyes I disagree. People call 911 for a variety of reasons, NOT just when they're having a heart attack, or when they hit their head. It WAS an emergency situation, there was water just POURING down from the ceiling. I did not have time to go to the Yellow Pages to look up a 24 hour emergency call out service. Had I done that, the damage probably would have been a lot worse than it was. Besides, everybody knows that water and electric wires DO NOT MIX. The people who responded to my calls KNEW it was an emergency situation. Suggesting that they did not ream me out, but should have is just an insensitive and ignorant comment to be making. You stated in your post that you understand, but judging from what you stated in that same post, it sounds like you don't understand at all. Everybody I have spoken to (including the homeowners AND my boss), told me that I did the right thing. So the point you are trying to make is bullshit. That ALSO needs to be said. doody wave

hug It almost was a real flood. lol I'm glad the situation was remedied too. I'm washing and drying the wet towels now, so the owners don't have to worry about it when they arrive back home.

lol My boss cracks me up! This morning, he sent me a text message, and in that message, he called me "Niagra Nancy". lol At least we can all kind of laugh about it, since the worst is over. Now if that plumber ever shows up so he can take a look at the plumbing issues that I'm having, that would awesome.

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

hug giggle With the amount of water that was pouring down from the ceiling, I could have given the dog a shower. The only thing that was missing was the shampoo. lol

I'm sorry you're in that situation. I really am. I'd be a nervous wreck. But next time maybe mention you might want to take a shower and ask if there is anything special you need to know in that regard. lol

nod I was in an absolute panic. That's a good suggestion to ask about the shower. When I saw how that shower had 4 nozzles instead of 2, I should have known that it was trouble. lol
