Never forget waaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
While 9/11 was a horrible day and tragedy for many, we claim to be the most kickass nation but we are whiney as hell sometimes. Folk live through destruction and death on the fuckin daily, but we still can't get past being attacked on own territory the once. You can't do, say or portray anything that evokes the slightest bit of that day without half of our country losing their damn minds.
Evocative or not is irrelevant to me...I think they're architecturally pretty fuckin cool.

I just read that this is the same group that rebuilt some Katrina homes that didn't go over so well. I don't know, but I'm beginning to think these guys thrive on controversy. They're talented and all, but I don't know if I'd keep grinning while somebody just keeps poking me with a stick just because their cool. |

Looks interesting, I think I like it.
I can see why it might be viewed as insensitive though. "I know that living with u baby, was sometimes hard...but I'm willing 2 give it another try.
Cause nothing compares....nothing compares 2 u!" |

they WOULD do that, is this North or South Korea?
Surely you can tell by the image? Of course there's no way in hell that this is North Korea. Meh... I like the wavy building next to it better.
Sepentine phallic skyscraper does more for me than the tetris-esque buildings...
I like them though. Smart way to bridge the two towers together.

C'mon. Isn't every skyscraper a resemblance?!!!
We should not be building any skyscrapers if we are avoiding any resemblance.
DUH! I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think. |

I don't think so... I was more focused on the fact that it's a pair of thin towers with a "cloud" middle...
the twin towers in Kuala Lumpur are twins and they are skyscrapers but there is no resemblance...

There is.
Same type of building a plane was flown into.

I think the design was actually meant to resemble the clouds hanging around a skyscraper. It's not called a skyscraper for nothing. I also think it's ridiculous that people let their personal sensitivities, no matter how genuine they may be, interfere with his and then even demand that the architects apologise or whatever. |

I'm sure you are right. No architect in their right mind could possibly think they could get away with a "tribute to 911" that celebrates the destruction
But the similarities never came up in all of their discussions? The buildings themselves--even without the "clouds"--are very similar. That should have been their first clue that millions of people would be looking closely for reasons to be offended. [Edited 12/13/11 13:16pm] |

The building next to it (on the left) looks curved like a vase. Maybe all the buildings in the area are meant to have their own unique and artistic vibe. We can't assume some other nation is being insensitive to us or trying to get publicity at the expense of Americans who suffered a tragic loss. Maybe, just maybe, it was meant to be a piece of architectural art. Reminds me of avatar. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

I wasn't there when they were discussing it!
They call it "the Cloud" and wanted to connect the buildings. I genuinly think that's all they were really thinking about. Why would they want to insult a whole bunch of people? Plus I don't think the buildings are very similar at all. Perhabs it says more about those who object? |

I think it'll be super cool.

This is another connected building design in Seoul(built in 2003). It's called Kyobo tower. I like this one too.
