These fools think they can win with that roster. They won't get pass the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Just read that Tracy McGrady is now an Atlanta Hawk...Even though he's been plagued by injuries, he's still a 7 time All-Star who won the scoring title twice. If he's healthy, he can do what Grant Hill did (possibly more), and be the edge the Hawks need to finally break through the 2nd Round...all they really needed was one more piece. Do they now have it? Update -- Odom, Gasol, Paul all in camp. Kudos to them for their professionalism.
I've never seen a league do this to a cornerstone franchise who broke no rules.
Goodell would never have done this to the Cowboys.
For all of his issues, Selig never would have pulled this on the Yankees. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

They are trying 2 sell that NO franchise. No Paul..............no value.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Paul doesn't want to sign. Everybody knew that before the lockout ended. So it makes no difference whether he stays for 66 games and leaves or is traded. Any buyer with a lick of sense knows, and KNEW, CP3 wasn't going to be around.
Stern destroyed any ability to shore up the value of the team by acquiring a 6MOY, an All-Star caliber shooter, a solid big man, a serviceable PG, and a 1st-round pick. Now they will lose Paul for nothing. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Odom didn't report to camp. His feelings are hurt, so he's like "Fuck it!"
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It makes a difference. They are trying 2 move the team during this season.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
For valuation and financing purposes . . . sure.
But for buyers who run any projections based on CP3's "presence" on the roster beyond 2012 . . . what a fool believes, (s)he sees.
PS -- a smart investor would look at the Sterling example. Buy low, build, and sell high or collect profit long term. That is the ONLY facet of Sterling's ownership that is instructive. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

The latest rumors I heard regarding the Bulls were that they were trying to get either Kirk Hinrich or Jamal Crawford to come back to them to play in the 2-guard spot. While Crawford would be a logical choice, Kirk Hinrich would be less so. He's a point guard, and while he could run the offense while Derrick Rose is on the bench, he would just be a step up from C.J. Watson, and their biggest need is at shooting guard. It would make more sense to the Bulls to bring Ben Gordon back.

I didn't really have much doubt they'd all show up after they pulled their panties out of their cracks. If they don't play they don't get paid. Plus, after all the crap they just went through with the lockout and the new CBA, it behooves them to make themselves AND the Union look like the good guys here. Especially with what the league (Stern) is pulling with this trade nixing.
Chris Broussard reported late this afternoon that Chris Paul's representatives sat down with David Stern today to inform him that they will take no action (legal or otherwise) until Monday. So the league (Stern) still has a chance to make this right. He could do a flip-flop, but its more likely he'll get some additional players or draft picks thrown into the deal so he can approve it and still save face.

There could actually have been an issue with the players (contracts) acquired by the NO Hornets putting them at, or over, the salarey cap under the new CBA. It wasn't a guaranteed thing, because they could have moved those players at any time, including this season. So... we'll see...
Edit: Wasn't and was - two very different words.

All I know is that I will miss seeing Chris Paul as a Hornet when he finally leaves New Orleans.
Trust me, I'm from Louisiana. And it will be a sad day.

Small market teams need a star though.
No one os coming top see Lamar and the Kardashian girl. If Paul (who is a first tier star and MVP candidate) caan't bring people to NO games, than Kevin Martin, Scola and Odom are not either. PRINCE: Always and Forever

I agree and disagree with that. If they don't gel into a good team, one that wins games, nobody will show up. But if they're a solid team, winning games, heading towards the playoff (which will be comin' up fast this season), the fans will be there. I think the deal was good enough to see if they could make the latter happen. Its unfortunate that a couple of pissy owners were able to stop it.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
And really, more to the point, NONE of this matters if the fans know that the team is going to be moving. Its possible (although not guaranteed) that they wouldn't show up even if NO was starting a team filled with all-stars.

I agree with the Daily News Mitch Lawrence. The NBA & Stern screwed up by giving a lousy owner(Shinn) a bailout and saving the Hornets. They should have been contracted. Brandon Roy retired at age 27. Damn.

Shane Battier to the Heat is an excellent move. He'll give them the solid bench play they need.

There are precious few legitimate bankable stars in the NBA. Most of them in small markets are DRAFTED by those teams. When they become free agents they have a right to decide where they want to go. Sometimes they choose to stay, like Karl Malone did. But many of them -- Kareem, Big O, Shaq, LBJ -- move to bigger markets. Try as they might, small markets can't attract big stars.
Teams have a right to cut their losses by trading those stars before they leave for no value. Build a contender and win. It can be done without superstars. Plenty of teams have done it. Fans have at least a dozen chances to see superstars in their towns every year. But they should focus on the wins, not the shine, because their towns can't offer that.
NBA superstars treated like rock stars and movie stars. They want to live like them and they can't live the lifestyle they want to live in smaller markets. A lot of times they want to win, and most of the time big-market-glamour teams have the players to do that. This ain't football or baseball.
NO could build a team like Memphis did. They can't force Paul to stay if he doesn't want to. But that's what owners want. They hate players use free agency to leverage trades. Well . . . tough. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Luck? How about NOT 2 smart. Bowie & the guy from OHIO state both had major injuries in college. How could they pass on Durant?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I give them a pass on Bowie because they already had Drexler and they needed a center BADLY in 84 . Agreed on passing up Durant though, dummy move
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly. It's easy to kill Portland now over Bowie, but at the time they needed a big man to battle Kareem and the Lakers. Back then, I thought it was the right move.

Lamar Odom has been traded to the Mavs! Don't know if any tears were shed over this. I haven't seen Stephen A. Smith anywhere today Lakers get picks.
Does anyone here believe the Nets have a real chance of getting DHoward? I don't. It would be nice to see him play in Newark though.......
