Too funky, aren't they?

I've seen similar ones, though, which had an even more playfully desgined fake fur and thin (black) leather straps all across them
But I can't find those...

I would wear them | |

I really like these...
^^^ The beige pair... not the brown.
They are Tom Ford's furry snow boots.

Real fur? Yes. Fake fur? No. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Yes, my feet are not that big, for a man (and I'm somehow glad they aren't). I have 40 in European size (which is about 6 1/2 in the UK and about 9 in the US).

Nope, not real fur. I don't think I ever wore real fur and I don't know if I would. It would probably depend on how much I really wanted a piece of clothing, but I think I want to avoid it as much as possible.

Fake fur can be a bit uncomfortable, I can imagine... However, I just want them to look funky and those are not shoes I would way a couple of days in a row or all day long. Unfortunately, my colleagues at uni would be too confused if they saw me running around in high-heeled shoes etc...

I don't know about it being uncomfortable. My objection is that it always looks fake.
Plus, if a person is opposed to wearing fur, why would s/he wear anything that even mimics it? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Fake fur was invented for those who don't want their compassion for widdle wabbits & such to get in the way of their fashion sense.

You're still not getting it. The point is...if you're opposed to fur, you shouldn't want to even hint that you are wearing animal skins.
And is that leather on those boots? How come it's okay to wear a cow, but not a rabbit? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Oh I see what you're saying...the fashion itself condones the action, regardless of whether it's real or fake.
...And cows are nowhere near as cute as rabbits. Or as tasty. So they get to be slaughtered along with the pigs and chickens without remorse. It's all about cuteness and taste factor.
Don't tell COW (the orger) that though!

It definitely looks fake, but it doesn't look bad, in my opinion. I take it for what it is.
I do get your point, but, like I said, if it's avoidable I won't wear real fur, if I really like the looks of it, I will.

It's difficult to say and I don't want to restrict my fashion to only one night a month... I'd gladly wear it when I'm out or surrounded by people who I know are "free" enough not to ask stupid questions every 5 minutes and think that me wearing those shoes is a dead give-away I am homosexual and therefore a perfect "victim".
I'm well aware that wearing women's shoes (and doing other things that not totally fit into the western cliché of "a man") will probably evoke certain reactions (I'd rather it wouldn't, but I accept it) or questions, but there's a huge difference between:
"Why are you wearing women's shoes?" - "Because I like them." "Uhm... isn't that sort of gay?!"
and
"Why are you wearing women's shoes?" - "Because I like them." "Fair enough!"
So, I'll wear them for the gigs, and when I really feel fit enough to not care about stupid looks and questions. But, unfortunately, if you want to live a peaceful live without having to start discussion every 5 minutes you sometimes have to submit yourself to the majority...

I think it's because fur is undeniably soft and warm and beautiful, but they don't want to kill an animal for it.
But I think you're right faux fur is not quite the same as the real thing. And while I don't really support fur, I am not really bothered by it--esp when I wear leather.
I know that unlike fur, leather is a by-product, but still it's pretty much the same thing. My Legacy

Thing is, cows are being eaten and so it makes sense that we would also use the leather. But minks & baby seals are not on anyone's menu as far as I know.
I suppose rabbits are a gray area My Legacy

I like some faux fur, I don't like those boots....especially not on a dude.
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Fur from baby seals is illegal, so that's a moot point. Mink oil is used widely for shoe care products and cosmetics. And people do eat rabbit. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Yeah... I thought you would not be too fond of a man wearing those.
But me wearing them doesn't mean I wouldn't choke you when we're naked!
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
ok let's go with mink, then. They are only used for vanity--to wear, for shoe care, cosmetics. Is that reason enough to kill an animal? But people still like the quality of the fur, the softness and the warmth and the look.
But I do see your point. If you are philosophically opposed to it, then why appear to promote it by wearing fake fur? My Legacy
