ChocolateInvasion said: minneapolisgenius said: ChocolateInvasion said: I've only lived in Holland, but I want to give you some reasons why you want and don't want to live there:
Want: - It's clean. I've seen a lot of countries during holidays and it always makes me aware of how clean it is here. - everything you want is here. Holland is a rich country, so luxury is a big here, because we can afford it. - Nature is beautiful. There are no big woods or something like that, but I find that Holland has a great country-side. - There are a few things certain: It will rain, you will end up in traffic jam. - We have candy called 'drop'. - Soft-drugs are legal. Don't want: - There are a few things certain: It will rain, you will end up in traffic jam. - In summer, people will speak to you in german if you're in a 10 km radius of the beach. - Especially in cities, dutch people aren't the most friendly persons. - Most people drive an Opel Astra or Ford Focus I agree with you on most of your points except one: I do not think that Holland is clean at all! In fact, I've never seen so much trash and poop anywhere! But everything else you mentioned is true. Oh wait! Drop?! I really do think it's a clean little country. There isn't too much trash on the streets. I hardly ever see dog-poop. And not just the visible cleanness, also the less visible ones like not being allowed to smoke in a lot of public places. I really like that. You hardly ever see trash and poop!? But wait, do you drive everywhere? Because I walk, bike, and take public transport (I don't drive) so I notice things because I'm going at a much slower pace. In fact, I was just taking a walk today, and I just wanted to get one of those pointy-stick things that pick up trash, and just go to work. Maybe I will someday. I always notice things like that, and I notice it getting worse. But that could also be because it's still winter and people aren't outside as much, and don't want to be cleaning up their neighborhoods in the cold. Whenever I get done with my education, I'm blowing this country. There are better places out there, and I must see them, and experience them. Alex is partial to the estados unidos, but says he'd leave. Insert shovel jokes here. -------

I live in Australia.
I once lived in the US for 8 months and I have visited there 8 times. America has some great things about it, and Canada is nice, too (Canadians are quite similar to Aussies) but I like it better here, overall. Does that answer your question?

Well Australia came first in an official poll of "happiest nations" a little while ago. We are generally a friendly, honest people. It's clean here, too...everything you could want is here. Good weather, beaches, living conditions. And it's not anything like "Mad Max" except out in the desert, which is hundreds to thousands of kilometres away from where most people live. It's the second most multicultural nation per capita after the US, and we have quite an egalitarian attitude here...there aren't really any racial ghettos or crime problems that pop up in other nations...crime is minimal in comparison. It is one of the world's "safe havens", quite removed from the troubles of the world in many ways. My girlfriend, an American, loves it here and she'd like to move here, the only problem is her family lives so far away. I like to go on about about my country, don't I?

The things I can do while I'm there include an 8 day journey at the Galapagos Islands. 3. I could take a 3 day journey into the rainforest. 4. I'd be staying in Quito... 5. The cultural aspects are beneficial...The places I could go... 6. It's cheap for the amount of things I could do. -------

I thought about moving to the UK or Australia during the late 90's and upon visiting both of those countrys. I realized there was no place like the USA. The vibe even the way they display street signs and paint the roads. I really enjoyed all whom I met in the UK and Australia and are very nice people, but when you're in another country they know where you are from and not just by the sound of your voice, but by your actions. If you are a US citizen you represent the USA no matter what country you are visiting, or move to. It comes with you.
