What's on your Christmas wish list?

I've been asked by a few family members to write a wish list for Christmas but I have to say I'm struggling with it. Most of the things I want can't be bought with money, let alone be wrapped as presents and put under the tree. I'm also part of the minority that doesn't want money or gift cards for Christmas (it just seems pointless to have an exchange of money that "cancel each other out"). So all I've been able to put on my list so far is a few CDs and DVDs along with "something unique or interesting or homemade". I'm sure that won't be very helpful though, lol.

What do you have on your wish list?

I wouldn't get anything that I wish for anyway so no need to write a list. I miss the times when people who I loved tried to make me happy with nice presents sigh.

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Are you sure they're not avoiding giving your presents because they know you don't even really want to celebrate Christmas at all? Maybe if you wrote a list they'd be pleasantly surprised, and encouraged to make an effort?

Yes I am sure. The people who were the ones who gave me those presents that made me happy are either dead (my dad and my aunt) or not part of my life anymore or at least not much (my ex and his family). The people who I am still close to never cared to give me any presents that I would enjoy sigh.

Do you give them presents that they would enjoy?

Ron and some of my friends (mainly PositivityNYC) usually give me gifts from my wish list.

I keep one on Amazon and now one on Dick Blick (art supplies drool)

I told my aunt and she was like "I don't know I can do that. I like to buy you things I like." neutral

Yes I do, even though I probably would put more effort into it if they would do the same.

My family always exchanges gift idea lists as otherwise we aren’t very good gift givers. We all have very different tastes and we’re not in each other’s everyday lives enough to know what we’d want or need or appreciate.

My idea list to my family this year includes:

Pillows

Sheets

Immersion blender

Rice cooker (my current one is getting old and the non-stick stuff is flaking off which is not good for you)

Wooden spoons & rubber scrapers for the kitchen

I had to give instructions about the sheets and pillows.

These are all things I will buy for myself if I don’t get them for Xmas. My gift list makes me seem so boring. neutral

My bf bought me some really nice pans for Xmas last year and I mentioned to him I’d like a few more that are from the same collection. Other than that, he hasn’t asked what I might want, so he must have something in mind.

It's really common that people think like that. I guess I understand it in an I-would-like-this-thing-to-make-you-as-happy-as-it-makes-me kind of way, but when you specifically say that you want something else? Then it's really odd that they insist on a porcelain cat just because it looks appropriate in their own baby blue book shelves.

Since I posted this thread I've thought of a few more things including "installation of new rubber insulation along the inside of the windows" and "new cover for my office arm chair". Now who's the boring one? neutral

Exactly.
I'm like "but it's not FOR you" lol She shops that way for everyone.

She's been warned not to be offended if I get something from Pier 1 and she doesn't see it displayed. boxed

The only thing I want is the Urban Decay Naked2 palette. I've put it in my online bag 3 times now and reluctantly talked myself out of buying it each time. I want it! But I don't need it and I simply can not buy things I don't need. pout

I am in the same boat. Things I'd really like cannot be bought - a different job, the ability to ease someone's medical condition, etc. There are a few little things like a food processor or new towels/linens but I don't really have room in my kitchen for a food processor and I don't really need new linens/towels that badly. I am fortunate to have everything I need and have the means to buy most things that I want (within reason!).

I am thinking of telling my family to give donations to their local art center/museum or to a specific nonprofit that helps those without medical insurance receive affordable health care instead of buying me stuff I don't want or need.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

my husband already gave me my christmas gifts early this year, and he got me what i wanted which was a new camera since my old one was broken. and a painting for our living room wall that i had been wanting for 4 months. he also gave me a blue topaz necklace as an extra surprise. rose

my mom was extra giving this year, and bought us a new bed (matress set), 2 sets of sheets, & a new pots & pans set for me. i feel extra spoiled this christmas. rose

but if i could wish for anything, it would be that my husband's grandma could spend chirstmas and new years with us. but she lives all the way in brazil, and no one on the brazil side seems to want to help her get her passport and visa to travel. sad

I always get myself something really nice for Xmas that I know my friends and family can't afford to get for me. this year, I will probably get myself an iPad2. I'm usually pretty hard to shop for but this year I am thinking about stuff I would really need/would be practical:

Swiffer duster refills (no, I am not kidding)

Swiffer sweeper

Swiffer Wet Jet

Sharps container

Bathmat

Exercise ball

Pots and pans

Estee Lauder Skintone Illuminator

Estee Lauder Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher

I don't really celebrate or "believe in" celebrating Christmas. I don't give presents and neither do I want to receive presents. But being with my little brother and my mum would still make me happy, especially because I know it would mean a lot to him. Hopefully it will work out...

I have to say that I love when my mom would get me a "care package" of the necessities for xmas. I know she doesn't think it's exciting but I'm so happy to get it. Sometimes I put stuff like contact solution on my Amazon wish list just in case she decides to pack me up a tote.

It sold out when it came out on 12/1. Then they got a re-stock yesterday and now they're sold out again. neutral
