I dig Shakespeare but i really like Anicent Greek Drama.

Opedius Rex may not be as complex as Hamlet but I definitely got a kick out of it.

Double ah crap. Yeah, I do think Shakespeare should still be part of high school and college curriculums. Reading Shakespeare will always be torture for some people, for others it will always open doors. His works haven't stayed around - popular and discussed - this long by accident.

Also, its amazing how often his writing, in whole or in part, have been worked into pop culture again and again over the last hundred years alone. Songs, movies, plays, books, art, etc. that often have very little to do with him on the surface were in fact partly or wholly inspired by his writing.

Shakes just has a knack for making lines pop off the page.

I really believe Shakespeare was gay, Only a queen can make every character "read" with such punch and girth.

^ Oh don't start that unfounded bullshit.....

There have been rumours about bisexuality (with sonnets about the Dark Lady) but def. no evidence for being all out gay - he wrote Romeo and Juliet and had a wife and kids for crying out loud lol...anything else is pure speculation...

But wherefore do not you a mightier way
Make war upon this bloody tyrant, Time?
And fortify your self in your decay
With means more blessed than my barren rhyme?
Now stand you on the top of happy hours,
And many maiden gardens, yet unset,
With virtuous wish would bear you living flowers,
Much liker than your painted counterfeit:
So should the lines of life that life repair,
Which this, Time's pencil, or my pupil pen,
Neither in inward worth nor outward fair,
Can make you live your self in eyes of men.
To give away yourself, keeps yourself still,
And you must live, drawn by your own sweet skill.

Somebody oughta translate that for the Real Housewives of Wherever. lol

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Has anyone seen the film Anonymous? Do you believe Shakespear was an actual person and his works authentic or do you believe he was possibly a fraud? I've heard stories that Shakespear was really a woman or was really a black man/indentured servant or that he was really the earle of oxford and a host of other individuals. Just wondering if the film is worth viewing and if anyone has given thought to the rumors surrounding WS.

Actually the work is so genius I may not even care who the author is. shrug

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer. rose

I haven't seen it.

But I am with you, it doesn't really matter who wrote it since it is not credited to God or some king, but just to a normal man.
