Hacking the firmware is VERY easy... just burn the hacked firmware (which I have) onto a CD and play it in the player... it will update the firmware and unlock all regions and defeat Macrovision.

My hacked DVD player is a SAMPO DVE-661.

I got into it when i used to download movies. Have the fantastic four movie on vcd and ringu among others. Some rare stuff i put on vcd and get rid of the tape.
