ok THIS is way too old imho .if they are in school and on solid food and potty trained YES 8 yrs old is TOO DAM OLD to breast feed.

I breastfed my daughter till she got teeth and wanted a sippy cup like her cousins...an d that was about 1 year old(maybe a bit before she turned one).

anything over 1 1/2-2 yrs old is too OLD to nurse a child imho.

that is very common. it is to help let down. Even kids less than a year learn to do that.

oh! did you look it up? it means that the kid will play it it, with the nipple to help stimulate milk production for a better flow of milk. so if the baby is on the left one and is twiddling the right when he switches to the right one is it ready to flow!

er

Children lose the ability to suck properly at a certain age anyway. However, breastfeeding isn't just about the nutrition but the emotional security & bond it brings.

There is no medical and health benefit to breastfeeding a child past 6 months but in any case, if the kid can chew and damn near walk then its time to get off the teet. When I see women breastfeeding pre-schoolers I tend to think they are using the kid to get their rocks off. Yeah I said it! Just cuz you're a momma don't mean you can't be a freak.

the WHO, ADA, AAFP, and AAP would disagree. for one the child will still get the mother's antibodies that her older more mature faster acting immune system for germs they were exposed to at the same time. What you may be confused with is that by 6 mos some mothers give their babies foods that are not really well suited for a baby. Baby food is not meant to complete nutrition. Where are they to get their milk? They are way too young for cow's milk (as sold in the markets). or are you suggesting formula? And are you going to help pay for that?

if the kid can chew and damn near walk then its time to get off the teet.

why? because it makes you feel uncomfortable?

When I see women breastfeeding pre-schoolers I tend to think they are using the kid to get their rocks off.

Wow? I have never nursed a child but from the woman I know it is not at all something that is sexual.

Yeah I said it! Just cuz you're a momma don't mean you can't be a freak.

how many children have you nursed?

imo, the child is too old when he/she can say "mommie milk." that's when the plastic cup thingy comes into play.

sippy cup.

however, the World Health Organization, American Academy of Pediatrics, and La Leche League International--support breastfeeding for a minimum of one to two years.
