Aww man, he was a really funny guy. I loved his rants on Orca and Midnight Express from I Love the 70's. He was also really great on Opie and Anthony too. The only reason I tuned into that show was to hear him.
RIP

I really wasn't all that familiar with his work. I was aware of him as a personality, but only really began to focus on him from seeing him on the Charlie Sheen Roast, where they made some mention (...in the form of mean jokes) of his current health problems. He seemed like a good sport, may he be resting peacefully.

I listened to both these clips and like how Patrice stood up for Gary Coleman. I never liked how people made fun of Gary or how they treated him as a joke. The way Patrice spoke up on Gary's behalf makes me all the more sad now that he's gone too.

I just heard he sufferred from diabetes, too. Men, please start taking obesity more seriously. Most of the leading causes of death for men are obesity-related. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

What I liked about Patrice was that he, a Black man, was not a comedian whose routine focused on pointing out the differences between Black and White America. I mean, how many times am I going to hear the joke about how Black people "beat dey kids" and white people do not.
But rather, Patrice was a thinker; I was telling my brother about two months ago after listening to his Black Phillips radio show that Patrice could've easily been a sociologyprofessor at Harvard. Like most gifted comics, he had insane observation skills and the ability to point out how silly humanity really is essentially.
The guy was brilliant and I'm sure that future generations will herald him as a genius; yes, he was in fact a genius.
But I think we should also mention that Black America needs to wake up and start dealing with its health/obesity/ diabetes issues. Patrice use to always joke about not eating correctly despite having diabetes and the mutherfucker is dead now probably because of a diabetes induced stroke.

Health ain't no joke. People need to wake up and start giving a shit about what they are putting into their body on a daily basis. People's disgusting, unhealthy diets make me SMH on literally, a daily basis.
People ask me all the time how I look so good and why I never get sick. And I tell 'em, straight up, it's because I eat healthily. It's not rocket science.
Instead of a popping a few pills to alleviate symptoms, how about looking at the problem itself? There's a great deal of evidence that many cases of diabetes can be almost completely reversed simply by an improved diet. As well as dozens of other illnesses.
RIP to this dude, he was a talent and should have taken his health seriously. |
