Do you do it? Yes.

Frequently? Not as much as I used to, but still about 3 or 4 times a month.

Why? Why not? Because I like to meet friends for drinks and we usually want to be away from the 4 walls of our own homes, with someone on hand to pour us drinks. If I go to a bar with my husband then we have to talk to each other... whereas if we dicide to have a night-in together we'll usually find something on TV to watch or do some work or something.

When was your last time? Last night.

Any horror stories? Nothing recent.

Do you do it? Not nearly as often as I 'd like to... neutral

Frequently? currently about 1 or 2 times per month but when I lived in Germany it was almost a nightly thing...

Why? Why not? Now I have kids and therefore more responsibility and far less disposable income. We also don't have such an awesome public transit system here and DUI's are UNACCEPTABLE!!

When was your last time? I was at my local pub just last Wednesday, I highly recommend Blind Pig IPA!! drink

Any horror stories? Lawd... I have so many tales to tell... I honestly believe that in one particular case I introduced about 80 patrons to the wonders of the Strawberry Margarita... in the dead of winter in Koeln. nod

QFT.
If anyone out there reading this finds himself/herself in a titty bar, & you are approached by a heavily tattooed chick whose ink designs make not even the slightest effort to cover up her shiv scars,
I highly recommend that you spend the extra cash to get her to take you into the back room.
I guarantee you,
you'll be in for a real treat.

Oh no no, please....
You're not being dumb at all.....

A shiv is a "sharp or pointed implement used as an improvised knife-like weapon", commonly wielded by revenge-laden prison inmates.

A shiv scar is a scar that is the direct result of a shiv that was not implemented to it's fullest degree. Usually in prison.

So this weekend my friend BBM's me; "Wanna go for a beer?"

Code for: "My wife is being a bitch again and I need to get the hell outta the house."

lol I told you all, that's the standard M.O. around here. lol

Went to Buffalo Wild Wings for beer & wings, joined by another friend, then we headed out to another bar where an oldies band was playing that they sometimes go see.

I had never gone with them there, and WHAT an experience.

The place was nice, the Long Island Iced Tea was spectacular (between that and the 2 beers I had before, I was DONE), and the crowd was borderline geriatric.

faint

I was one of a handful of people under the age of 50. To be expected I guess for "oldies" (which really meant 60's and 70's rock & roll) but it was an interesting "people watching" experience.

nod

...on a side note...this really scary 60-ish "hippie witch"-looking dame was giving me the eye. shake

If I was not in a band I might not ever go to bars or clubs anymore. I actually like that it is an excuse to go to them though. I get to hang out, but I have a purpose for being there at some point during the evening.

And I don't have to live as the shut-in I surely would be otherwise!

I'm so with you on this. I need a purpose to be somewhere... having to stand around making small talk drives me fucking mental. It's the same reason I never felt compelled to travel - I'd love to do it if I had a reason to go somewhere, but sitting around some pool just seems sort of idiotic to me.

Yeah, I don't know how some guys can afford to make that a habit!!! disbelief

I was invited to a German beerhouse in NYC (but I have the kids that night) which I would love to go to just to be there, not because of the beer...I'm a lightweight when it comes to brews and German beer intimidates me.

yes! about twice a month.

why? because I need a damn break.

no horror stories really...I get an occasional weirdo from time to time trying to pick me up but nothing too bad.

when I first turned 21 my friends and I went to a club alot....I don't do clubs anymore...I'm too damn old for that shit.

I like the pub atmosphere, I like to see a good band from time to time but mostly I hang out in an American Legion. yes, you heard me correctly. If you've never checked one out, you should. the drinks are CHEAP and the people are nice and by nice I mean relatively quiet and they pretty much keep to themselves. There's usually a jukebox, a pool table, a dartboard and sometimes even a pinball machine. There's usually free popcorn and sometimes even free food. smile they have unique events like meat bingo! LOL smile or sometimes called a meat raffle. basically it's a raffle and the prize is meat. like steaks, chicken, roasts, ribs, sometimes even lobster. They also have steak night and or seafood night, where you buy a ticket at a pretty cheap price and you come on down for a steak or lobster dinner.

They host all sorts of fund raisers for veterans and children. it's a great organization to be a member of or just patronize. If you're a member you pay annual dues of like 15 bucks a year or something like that and you are welcome at any legion in the country. If you are not a member you will need to know someone who is, so they can sign you in.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
