I felt the same about these laws before I even met my man. And these laws make it impossible to see my man and they also make it impossible for my man to see his 2 small children from a previous relationship too BTW.

And no I cannot see any other reason for those laws than greed and xenophobia.

It is true. These days most european countries have very tough rules on immigration. Greed is not the reason tho'. Politics is. Depending per country to some extent influenced by xenophobia, but mostly a cry for economic, social and cultural protection.

Honest question Serious: what about the laws in the country of your man / potential husband? Would they allow you there with no trouble?

Once we are married hopefully we could live there after having gone through all kind of immigration interviews etc again. But he is going through an international divorce right now and then the divorce has to be acknowledged by his country still so it will probably take a couple of years until we can marry although he and his wife are officially seperated for 2 1/2 years now sigh. And the next problem is that because of personal reasons I could only live in his country half a year every year and I don't know if that might be a problem to get residency in his country if I would not live there full time bawl. But getting residency there takes years anyway too so I am probably dead before I would get it granted anyway shrug.

So right, I also always wanted to move to the area of Vancouver, if I ever would decide to cross the ocean and settle on the American continent. It seems like a really nice place, comparable in cultural, economic and social standards as where I'm from, but with a better climate and lots of nature around. How about those west coast Canadian women tho'?

My parents visited Vancouver while on their way to Alaska this year and they told me I should go because of all the young attractive women there.

Your parents have really good taste or have you seen it yourself?

Thank you hug.

I wish but no bawl. If I am lucky I get a 3 month stamp at the airport, but it depends on the mood of the immigration officer there and I am always nervous weeks ahead already sigh. The more often I go there the less likely it will be that I get that stamp as they tell me I already spent enough time in the country cry. I don't need a visa for Trinidad, but they still could only allow me to stay 2 weeks and not the maximum of 3 months. There are no clear rules about that. The last time I was there they promised they'd extend my stay if I only change my flight and I aksed them 3 times if I can rely on that and then made me leave the country with the next plane and I lost 400 € because of that and couldn't even finish packing my stuff or say good-bye to everybody bawl. I heard later that I had the right to get that stay extended, but what can you do when they tell you if you are not leaving the country you will never be allowed to return sad. I did not see him for nearly a year now, so I just hope and pray when I go back they will give me that 3 month stamp at the airport pray.

And he has pretty much no chance at all to get a visa to visit me here even though he has 2 small children from that marriage who moved to Germany with their mother who he hasn't seen for 2 1 /2 years who miss their dad a lot.

The org doesn't let me quote like I want to mad.

No he cannot. Even though he spent long periods of time in Germany before with his wife and kids and always returned to his country. The judge wants him to go to Germany for the divorce and could hardly believe it when I told her he very likely would not even get a visa for that disbelief.
