I never have... Probably never will... Im not dragging my butt out at 3am to fight a bunch of people to "maybe" be able to get an item I want, only to get to the front of the line and have them tell me its sold out! mad

Plus the whole situation just ruins all the good happy feelings of the Xmas season for me... I enjoy shopping, this to me isnt shopping... Its a war zone! lol

My sister and I were doing it before it became really popular & crowded.

We're usually done with everything and sitting in a diner by 11:00am. biggrin

Most places have gotten pretty organized, so it's not the insanity it used to be.

JC Penney gives away coffee coffee and donuts donut .

JCPenney is the first store that I'm going to.They open at 4:00 AM and I never have any problems. No long lines,no pushing or shoving. The coffee and donuts is a nice gesture, too lol

Our JCPenneys' also gives out a free gift. It's usually a Christmas tree ornament with one of the Disney characters on it.

I stay away from "war zone" situations lol There are certain stores that I avoid on Black Friday (Wal-Mart,Target,Best Buy) because the lines are usually long.I never have any problems at the mall down the street from where I live.It has a JCPenneys and a Macys but there is never any chaos and long lines.I've seen news footage of what happens when Wal-Mart opens and it's insane! People scrambling over each other to get inside.

I'm there. xmas wave

My family and I always went shopping on Black Friday, we just didn't get up a the crackk of dawn, later on in the evening was fine by use. That was until 6 years ago, we love it! lol

I love the season and I get as much joy out people watching as I do shopping. I have a course of action of what stores to hit first. Soul like you, I don't do lines. We'll be making stops at Target, SUPER K and Walley's world, I never had an issue of getting in buying what I wanted and getting out. I have to hit the guitar stores and book stores too. SoulAlive what are you getting me for Christmas? You forgot last year. razz

I think I have once or twice in my life, but not up at the crack of dawn – it just sort of happened in the afternoon and I mostly just wandered and picked up a few things.

These days, no way. I really hate crowds of people shopping – I like to get in and get out. For several years I would do ALL of my xmas shopping on one day. I’d come home with a car full of bags and be done with it.

Last year, I got to do almost all of my Xmas shopping in Thailand! So I was about 90% done when I got home at the beginning of December. That rocked!

This year I’ll likely do a few trips on weeknights immediately after work. It tends to be less busy around that time. I’ll try to do as much as I can at smaller shops but will likely end up at the Mall of America a couple of times. But that’s even not so bad on a weeknight. I can take the light rail straight from work, get dinner there and make a night of it on my own.

I totally get why some folks enjoy it, though. It's a tradition for a lot of people and sometimes even that's enough.

It will be over-crowded at the stores, so I will not be shopping on Black Friday.

nod My mom and I would get to Macy's at about 5am or 6am and be done by noon and have some lunch. It used to be so much fun. I know Macy's is opening at midnight this year...don't know if I'm going to try that but then again, I'm not buying much for folks this year.

But like Soul said, it is very exciting to be in the stores on Black Friday. The Christmas music is playing and everything, it definitely gets me in the spirit. But I don't do long lines either, that's why I stay away from the usual, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. Nothing I want that bad to be standing in a long ass line in the parking lot only to get robbed. I usually start and finish my Christmas shopping on Black Friday. nod

The key is a strategy.

My sister and I buy newspapers on Thanksgiving, sit and clip coupons and useful ads, make out our lists, and decide our course of action. We live in NJ, mall capital of the world, giggle so we decide which area is the best to get the maximum done (mall and plazas in the same proximity).

Our last stop is usually "Casual Male", because her bf is 6'8" and wears a 4x. That store usually isn't crowded. lol

Strategy. wink

Then we go to the diner. foodnow

**It has nothing to do with what we want so badly (except the year I needed a TV for my new house and didn't have a lot to spend).

It had become a tradition- something that she and I look forward to doing together.

Like I said, we did it when it wasn't that popular and there would be very few people (AND NO KIDS) out there that time of morning.
