For me, the day will begin with cleaning the house and helping mom cook.

I'll pick up my kids either tonight or early tomorrow morning. My buddy and his wife/kids are coming over for dinner. He's going to the Macy's parade tomorrow so if I decide to tag along with my kids, we'll head out at the crack of dawn. (Meaning lots of cleaning TONIGHT!)

Menu;

Turkey w/ stuffing

lechón (a Latin style roast pork)

cheesy potatoes

arroz-con-gris (Cuban style rice & beans)

some type of pasta

collard greens (from a can pout)

salad

baked rolls

...and whatever dessert my buddy brings.

Instead of cranberry sauce, I'm picking up a bottle of lingonberries from Ikea today drool

OMG! I finished cooking Thanksgiving dinner at 4:30 this afternoon! I've never managed to accomplish that! I'm usually cooking on Thanksgiving day right up until the guests arrive! Now, I can either sleep in tomorrow or go to the gym. Feels great to have it out of the way!woot!

Looks like I'm heading out to Golden Corral for Thanksgiving dinner. confused Apparently, not all of my family members could make it back home for Thanksgiving this year, so they will be coming home for Christmas. xmas With only half the family around this year, nobody apparently wanted to cook dinner, so me and my family will be stuffing our faces at the buffet.

Actually I misspoke...I guess I meant "pernil" (the lechon is the whole pig, right?)...we just always call it lechon regardless.

Lingonberries are delicious. I've only had them from Ikea. The real stuff is probably awesome.

I don't know, although the opportunity has never presented itself, I don't think I would be bothered by spending a Thanksgiving or Christmas alone every once in a while. But, because I'm the cook in the family, it will probably never happen. I just finished eating dinner and now I'm being anti-social. I excused myself to another room to watch some movies by myself because I just don't dig being around a bunch of loud people. We had more guests than originally expected so I'm not too thrilled about that.

I pretty much hate from Halloween through New Years, this time of the year irritates me to no end. Yeah, it probably sucks that you are annoyed with everyone there but at least you have the option to feel like you're surrounded by those you know and (hopefully) love, LOL.

Back home from a day of Thanksgiving festivities with the family. As I mentioned earlier, I went to Golden Corral with my family around 1:00 pm, and the place was packed. But the turkey dinner they served was quite delicious, and I stuffed my face till my stomach nearly burst. dead Then some of us made plans to go to the movies, but we left the restaurant about an hour before the movie started, so we made a visit to Walmart, as nothing else was open then. There were more people there than I expected to see, but it was still not too bad. I didn't buy anything, but it was weird seeing a bunch of shrink-wrapped palettes of merchandise in the aisles with signs on them stating they were not to go on sale before 10:00 pm that night for Black Friday. Afte a little bit of window shopping, I went to the movies and saw The Muppets. It was quite good and quite funny, and those of you who remember the original Muppet Movie and The Muppet Show will love this movie. And those of you with young children, well, your kids will love this too. love Then I came home, and along the way I saw a bunch of people standing in line in tents at the local Best Buy waiting for the Black Friday sales to begin. sigh disbelief

Alot of people are alone during the holidays. At least you have a Dog! Pets are better company than humans are. Pets make people happy, prevent stress, etc. People/family make stress for their other family members. Do you have family who live near you or far away? I usually spend the holidays with my friends and their family.
