I've been taking the I C You that alandail recommended. It really has increased my night vision! Some nights, I do not need glasses at all.

Tonight is my bowling night. We'll see if I can see my marks without glasses!

I do this already, I am at about 1400 calories a day, 125g carbs and 125gprotein and about 49g fats. I count it all, I must say though, I have a hard time hitting that protein goal, carbs are so easy but I find it hard to eat all that protein. This is why I try to only eat vegetables for my carbs now. I have never subtracted out fiber though, I count it all. I began eating this way in May of 2010 and lost 70lbs but as of February this year the weight has not come off at all. i know some weight training may help but I just have no idea what to do when it comes to weights neutral

[Edited 11/26/11 9:40am]

More weight training WILL help. It's time for you to change up, hun. As one orger said, you should be doing 80% weight training(mostly free weights) and 20% cardio. Like I tell the ladies at my gym, do the same shit the men do(bench press, squats, deadlifts, rows, etc.) and hit it HARD. Combine that with good nutrition and you'll see the change. Believe me, it works.

Did you ever check out the Dr. Layne Norton link I posted on the other fitness thread? There's some great advice on women's fitness. I'll see if I can find it.

Here's the fitness link again, folks. I'm currently using Dr. Layne Norton's routine(with a few changes). Instead of a 6-day program, I worked it down to 4. It's done wonders for me:

Monday - Upper body power

Tuesday - Lower body power

Wednesday - rest

Thursday - Chest and arms light

Friday - Legs, back & shoulders light

weekends - rest

I got a great diet and weight training plan from Muscle Fitness magazine last year that worked wonders for me. I slacked off a bit, but began back with this same plan an in just 2 weeks I am seeing great results again.

I've tried telling my wife of 10 years the same thing people on this thread have said about doing more weight training and really monitoring your diet. But she has rocks between her ears. And then can't understand why she's not getting the result she wanted. So ladies if you are SERIOUS about meeting your goals you have to be serious about what it takes to obtain them. get in the gym and hit those weights. Work the fuck out, like I saw an elderly woman doing to day while all the young broads were doing cardio and trying to look cute. lol

That looks like a doable schedule. Everyone says to take a day off between workouts. But the Weds & Weekends OFF looks like a good routine.

I so far from being fit, but I trying not to let the anger and frustration I feel slow me up. How in the hell was I not paying that much attention? Now dealing with soreness and stiffness from excercising which I've never experienced before in my life and making it difficult to go about the normal movements in my life are even more frustrating. Even when I stretch properly. I've taken a couple of days off even though I understand you're not suppose to rest 2 days in a row, but I feel better now, so I can get back on it Monday morning.

Four months of going to the gym twice a week has produced results surprisingly fast. My pecs, upper arms and shoulders are clearly bigger and stronger, my waist-line is slimmer and my abs are more well-defined. Overall I feel better about my appearance. Just in time for the season of...um...baggy sweaters, and thick winter coats.

i am away from the great dcale that i got use to and i am scared. plus i am eating at homeless shelters and that is fattening food. more pastries and white bread, white pasta tnen you can imagine.

refusing to eat it.

resisting the mac and cheese too.

i am so happy that my weight went from 245lbs or more in January to around 215 on December first. I am not gonna fuck it up just to eat free homeless shelter food. Sorry! It took a friggin year to do that!

I hate gyms. Not because of the painful exercise you do there but because of all the steroid-pumped idiots hanging around, the stench of sweat, the waiting around to use a certain machine, etc.

So anyway, I am starting to get results, although not as fast as I used to a few years ago. I have to work a lot harder these days and the most difficult thing is to lose belly fat. My body is way happier adding muscle than burning fat so if I don't watch out I'll end up with a beer belly shaped like a six-pack, lol.

I can relate to what you said about gyms and loosing belly fat.

Im desperate to find a gym where i feel comfortable going to. I've been searching, but i haven't found one yet.

I've always been able to put on muscle but its been hard to loose the extra stomach pounds.

In my 20's and early 30's i was into working out but for the last 10 years i got lazy and it made the belly thing worse. About 4 months ago i started lifting weights and doing push up again and im starting to see muscle gains, but no gains in loosing the stomach fat. I've cut down on refine sugars and cut out anything white(rice, bread, ect)but i still can't seem to loose the stomach. I am starting to see some muscle behind the belly but it's still there. I guess i just have to chip at it little by little. I do need to do more cardio but i have problems with my right knee so running is out of the question, i guess ill get a bike. My ultimate goal is to loose about 20 pounds of fat then put on about 30 more pounds of muscle so i guess ill need to develope a plan to achieve that.

Anyway good luck to anyone that's trying to get into better shape. Especially the 35 and older crowd. Its might seem like a hard road but it can be done.

You need to be on steroids or have a very high testosterone count to bulk out any.

I think it was PurpleJedi that posted the 70 plus year old woman who works out with weights who has a FANTASTIC body. She also started in her 50's as I recall.

The one thing I like about the first of the year is that it renews my commitment to healthy living. I lost about 30lbs in all last year and that was less than I had hoped but that was a huge improvement IMO. I am now at 213 and was at about 247 or so this time last year.

Next year I would like to see at least 60lbs off. That is only 5lbs a month and I don't think that that is crazy in anybodies book. That would leave me around 150 to 155lbs and a perfect weight for my ideal. At 5'3" I should be around 135 at most but I like the rounder look on me and I like the kind of men that it attracts.

It is quite possible for me to stay a bit plump and get into the gym and be fit. I want a good layer of muscle underneath my padding. I want my whole body to be like my calves. They are shapely even if a little large. They are firm and sexy. I want to be a firm and sexy plump lady. Sort of like Paula Deen hits the gym. lol That is my new years resolution!

Ugh! Losing weight is getting frustrating for me! I have increased my calories by 500 and lowered them by 500 and I am still the same weight, how is that possible! pout I am still only doing cardio but I thought decreasing calorie intake by 500 meant 1 lb loss a week!

I'm pretty late to this thread and only read halfway through the first page so far so forgive me if this has already had responses. lol

You are going to need to add some weight training/resistance into you're workout. Cardio and cutting calories will get you down so far, but you're going to need to build muscle if you want to continue burning fat.
