My dad bought my mom a set of china back in the 50' s when he was in china/korea ( ??) I was moms only child, so I kept the china. And while im on the subject, his second wife, who was with him when he passed kept all my moms and my grandmoms flatwear that he had bought for them...long before he ever met her... anyhow, my dad passed in '09 so I started to wonder...should I keep the china?? I have 4 girls and a son so who would i leave it to?? probably the oldest, but then maybe the one who i thought would appreciate it the most...... about that decision...anyway...should i keep the only valuable thing i would have to leave them......

OR~ should i sell the pieces for a down payment on a car.......sentiment vs praticality.....torn in texas...

So, your father took back the flatwear that he bought for your mother and grandmother, and gave it to the second wife? Is that what happened? As for the china, I don't see what's wrong with keeping it, but at the end of the day, that's your decision.

#2 - why base your decision by what YOUR KIDS may or may not do with it? If it holds sentimental value TO YOU, then that's what you should judge your actions by. Of course, I'm a bit of a pack-rat so maybe I shouldn't be giving advice on this...
