YES! ![pissed](/i/s/icon_pissed.gif)
This is why I recommneded a NEUTRAL brown. Its a more balanced base.
A red/violet base can pop burgundy or copper ...
A gold base can pop brass
Curly hair is funny too because sometimes the tips grab too much color. That's a bitch too, especially with hot roots. ![dead](/i/s/icon_dead.gif)

ADD a 1/8 tube of 4 R/G
To an entire tube of a level 1 color ... try to find a neutral one 1N... but a 1B is OK too...
mix that with a volume 10 CREME peroxide developer
you'll be straight!

And this is all semi-permanent?
All companies have different names for their colors but they must keep a standard by the numbers (levels of hair color) on the boxes.
So the numbers are like a universal code.
Yes... in semi-permanent too...
the only thing that really changes is the volume level of developer. ![biggrin](/i/s/icon_biggrin.gif)
But its been a long time since I colored hair professionally.

I worked with lots of women who have double processes done in their hair...
so the curly heads that had VERY porous heads of hair went a med-brown because the base color would STAIN the hair...
you can get it out... but its a bitch and you'll need a LOT of re-conditioning.
I don't recommend it...
BUT if your hair is not too processed you can get all the color out with a bit of bleach and developer.
Buy LOTS of conditioner. ![lol](/i/s/icon_lol.gif) |

Oh and STAY AWAY from any color with an A (ash) on it...
it'll stain the blonde to a lovely green color. ![biggrin](/i/s/icon_biggrin.gif)
Many level 1 and 2 hair dyes are an ash base.
SO NO 1A or 2A even with a bit of red to balance it would still fade greenish and look "flat" when done.

Oh.
My hair is not going to be able to handle being bleached again. I went from that level 2 to level 11 in about 8 months. I have about 4 inches of good healthy new hair but the rest...it's not good. I couldn't risk it.
The only thing that has saved the really damaged hair is all the conditioning I've done and I have to cover the ends with oils to make it look decent.
Basically, I totally fake having good, healthy hair now. ![lol](/i/s/icon_lol.gif)
I didn't realize that going dark - especially with a semi, would still be damaging...so I'm thinking I might not be able to do this at all.
![sad](/i/s/icon_sad.gif)
I should never have looked at old pics of me with that really dark hair.... |

Yeah the ends that are over processed will grab too much color and stain. The semi would act as a permanent because of the excessive porosity.
You would need back to back protein treatments and conditioning if you were to use a stripping agent to go blonde again.
Then after you could ONLY do rollersets or air dry... no blow outs or the hair will split and break right off with ease.
Yeah... no DARK brown for you dear. Unless you wanna go short after?

I NEVER blow dry my hair, always air dry...so that wouldn't be an issue but I am realizing that it wouldn't be as simple as putting in a semi, enjoying it for a month or so then going back to the blonde I worked so hard to get.
And no, I could never go short. I just wouldn't be me anymore if I did. My long hair is who I am.

You may wanna also wait until other stylists chime in because rules can be different if you pre apply other new products I may not know about.

If the hair is long, and you wanna keep it that way... then its best to just condition, and keep it blonde. Later, when the hair grows out and you are able to cut off most of the over porous tips and keep the lenght. Maybe then, will be a good time to play with color.
Better results. ![biggrin](/i/s/icon_biggrin.gif) |
