with SA I think Rockstar just wanted to give the biggest map ever, that was the goal of the game, bigger map, more missions, more cities, more vehicles, more characters, even more sex (hot coffee? anyone?, lol), it's an excessive game, and i love it for that

with the Stories series and IV they basically returned to the small-medium map thing, which was slighty disappointing, at least for me...
