as a dutch of good taste, you'll be GRAVELY disappointed by this hysterical and americanized version of Tintin full of overblown pursuits...

that's NOT what Tintin is about...

I am almost sure I can keep the two experiences seperate.

Like with Lord Of The Rings; I loooooove the books, but just kinda like the movies, as they do not represent the books as I got them committed to memory.

it will be the same with this; I am sure that 'live-action' stuff does not do justice to the original comics as I read them as a child. And I did not like every book, to be honest; I am not a TinTin-totalist.

So I'll go in with no expetancy at all; we'll see what my adult brain makes of it.

But you will be right on ONE part; I am almost sure that the American version will be overly politically correct, where TinTin of course is not.

Which comic did they take?

Given the political correctnes issue, I doubt it was Kuifje in Afrika?

lol, no, not a chance in hell

from wikipedia:

The Adventures of Tintin is a 2011 American performance capture 3D film based on The Adventures of Tintin, a series of comic books created by Belgian artist Hergé (Georges Remi). Directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by Peter Jackson, and written by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, the film is based on three of the original comic books: The Crab with the Golden Claws (1941), The Secret of the Unicorn (1943), and Red Rackham's Treasure (1944).[3]

Spielberg first acquired rights to produce a film based upon the Adventures of Tintin series following Hergé's death in 1983, and re-optioned them in 2002. Filming was due to begin in October 2008 for a 2010 release, but release was delayed to 2011 after Universal opted out of producing the film with Paramount, who provided $30 million on pre-production. Sony chose to co-produce the films. The delay resulted in Thomas Sangster, who had been cast as Tintin, departing from the project. Producer Peter Jackson, whose company Weta Digital is providing the computer animation, intends to direct a sequel. Spielberg and Jackson also hope to co-direct a third film.[4]

The last two comics are a good choice (they are a sequal in the comic series as well). They are also two of the strongest comics. I don't understand why the crab was also introduced. Probably just to introduce captain Haddock. That is a silly decision: now you have unrelated story parts and too much to tell in a single movie.
