Sometimes, it bites being a grown-up

So, I just reviewed my insurance coverage with my agent - and to upgrade coverage to what I need to cover my home and car adequately, and add a liability umbrella, it's going to cost me another hundred bucks a year. neutral

Now, the coverage is a lot better. And the new provider will let me pay monthly (with an automatic payment). But still. neutral

What grown-up shit do you hate paying for?

That's less than $10 a month. Not bad at all.

My health insurance went from under $40/week (via the ex) to almost $150/week for shittier coverage via my job. as of Nov. 1st THAT policy is getting even shittier so I had to switch to a different policy for $80/week which has no deductibles and fewer co-pays but it's hard to find a doctor that accepts it AND it only covers GENERIC drugs. So for meds that my son takes and that I take, for which here ARE NO generics, we have to pay out of pocket.

sigh

Yeah...being a grown-up sucks.

I hate paying for it all and feeling broke, but the thing that i hate the most about being grown up is not having summer & winter & spring break anymore.

I want 3 months off!

Yeah...being a grown-up sucks.

The ten bucks a month is just the change in coverage. I'm at about a hundred bucks a month, total. And this doesn't even touch the health insurance. That's a totally separate issue. This is just auto and homeowners. disbelief

On the plus side, I now have a million dollar liability umbrella. So if...say...johnart came over, had too much vodka, and bumped his wittew haid while passing out drunk, he couldn't mess with my well-insured ass. hmph!

Ooh, yeah; that's a good one. And having to work 40+ hours per week. Our offices don't close until 6 o'clock (we open at 10am) and I hate it! It feels so late; I am not a morning person, but I would rather drag myself in at 9am so I could leave at 5pm. I also think productivity and worker stress would be better if we switched to a 4-day work week. biggrin

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

On the contrary - he would now have more reason to sue you! You wouldn't pay, of course (your insurance company would), but you're more of a target because you/your insurance company now will pay more.

I am taking my Property and Casualty Insurance License exam Thursday morning.

I like everything about being a grown-up. And there's nothing that I did as a younger person that I can't do now.

But, check back with me in 15 years.

On the upside I heard our tax free income threshold went from $9K to $18K which is WONDERFUL news for small business owners like me and the SOB

It's not so much what I hate paying for or that almost 30% of my wages never reach my bank through tax and deductions....after all the majority if it (tax, mortgage, insurance, National Insurance, Council Tax,Road Tax etc) makes the country tick...

What does bug me is, whilst I'm out there working hard for my family and missing most of the day withmy kids growing up, there are lazy motherfuckers who can't be arsed to work, shit out kids one after another, drink, smoke, gamble, eat to obesety and dont raise thier kids properly etc who don't pay shit towards the upkeep of the country but still reap the benefits and actually get way more finacial support in handout and benefits....it's actually more profitable not to work. Whereas for the hard working folks child support is slashed (or removed totally in my case) so I'm even WORSE off working now.

So in short I hate paying for the same scum who, when their kids tore shit up during the riots used the age old excuse "there's nothing else for them to do"....and there never will be if they follow your example.

....and pension smile

Yeah, but think about it.

When you're a grown up, who's gonna yell at you when you mix up a batch of cookie dough and eat like half of it raw?

Doesn't that kind of make up for the rest of it all?

I'm stilling trying very hard to grow up. However, up till now, I haven't managed very well.

I allways thought that when I would be a grown up I would get my driverslicense. I still don't have it, so that sort of excuses me for being childlike. In my mind.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Amen to that cool

I know someone who don't work and gets £1700 a Month in Benefits, Thats more than what my Wife earns and she is a freakin Paramedic who goes out risking her life with all the other Emergency Services Crews and Saves Lives, or for the most part transports Drunken idiots to Hospitals.

This person recently had a fuckin Holiday abroad, we cannot even afford to take our Kids to Blackpool never mind oversea's. Got to love how the "We cannot be arsed to get out of Bed and do a goddamn thing, cuz we know how to fuck teh system and have no qualms doing it" Brigade get everything in this country. mad mad mad

Life is short, don't be a dick.

Part of becoming a grown up is learning and understanding how society and its laws really work, doing your duties and enjoying your freedoms, instead of spewing every crap story you hear out there and become jealous like a little child whenever somebody seems to have more than you.

So when the society doesn't function, the laws don't work or aren't being abided by then what? smile

We live in such times.... we've probably always live in such times. lol Now that I think about it. lol

I hate the city stickers we have to purchase for your car in Chicago, I hate it. Some more revenue money to be stolen by the crooks that run the city. lol

If that is meant to be in response to my comment then I'm not just spouting the propaganda...I've seen first hand how, after having 1 kids, my wife made a conscious effort to get back and work - currently we have very little 'spare' money each month, never go out, don't smoke and don drink and desperately want to plan for a second child. Meanwhile I know one family of similar age to us who had 3 kids in quick succession (and they arent finished)one of them doesn't work at all and the other works part time...and they get all sorts of support with child care, family benefits, tax breaks etc etc that they have all the mod cons, EACH have a brand new iPad and eat out at least once a week - pulling your weight just doesn't pay in this country

What thanks do we get - the £40 per month we got towards child benefit has been scrapped ...£40!!!!!
