TRON...the movie, not the orger...and a creepy feeling that goes with it. My daughter got up and left 15 minutes into TRON. It stung me...I mean, she's entitled to her Brittany Spears and whatnot, but I cannot help but feel like this great movie is lost to future generations.
It captured that feeling of the early 80's when people actually paid for video games with quarters--and arcade games were such a big deal that entire arcades opened up everywhere. It was also one of the first, if not THE first, movie to rely heavily on CGI and actually make it work. Because Flynn was actually inside the computer, it was ok for things to look like CGI, unlike, say, Jar Jar Binks. But best of all, it spoke to the nerd me and others during a very brief period in history. Bits, busses, programs--all very new and gee-whiz...and no Internet anywhere in sight. A period that no other generation before or after will ever experience. Things were different back then...there will never be another 80's. Goddamnit, I love my generation, mortal though it is. Fear is the mind-killer.

I actually saw this in the theater at its original run-release. It was ahead of its time. Folks weren't ready for the computer generation and now its too obsolete to those who are born into it. "Climb in my fur."

Wow- it's sad that such a wonderful movie may be lost on the new generation. To me, the 80s captures what it means to be a child. It saw the video game explosion (Arcade and Nintendo) and the digital fantasy world carried over into music as well. I certainly feel you on this, even though I'm fairly young myself. I can appreciate the wonder of good fantasy. What better than to be trapped inside of a computer? It is as brilliant now as it was then.

I loved this movie, when it first came out. But it was from another time and world then. I guess kids are spoilt for choice these days. Sad.

I didn't care for the movie all that much but I loved the arcade game.

Goddamnit, I love my generation, mortal though it is. more concise words could never be. Every once in a while i get a deep longing for the days of the 80's. This is one of those moments.

Love Tron, it kicks butt. I know what you mean though about todays kids. My fiance and I wanted to show his nieces and nephews 'Goonies' because they had never seen it. Half way through it they all started to talk and play amoungst themselves. They were totally uninterested. I was dissapointed to say the least. Oh but give them 'Austin Powers' or any other movie with a gun and bad jokes in it, and they're all ears. Oh well. Peace & Love

I heared something about how the upcoming PC game is going to be the official sequel to TRON... IIRC they didn't want to make a movie sequel, I could be wrong tho... Anyhow, I saw it for the first time on video back in '84 or something and it kicked ass! Now I still need that 20th Anniversary CE DVD! Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O

You're lucky she didn't nap out, that movie was boring in the '80s. [This message was edited Mon Feb 17 12:35:45 PST 2003 by tommyalma]

The DVD set from last year kicks my ass!!!
Tron: Deadly Discs for the old Intellivision pretty much saved my sanity as a young child. I loved that fucking game. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

True! It's been mooted it'll star Eminem, and be called TRON 2: Electric Boogaloo. And instead of being pulled inside a computer, he'll be up his own ass.

Just do it man... if you can't do it now you sure as fuck won't be able to do it when you're married Anyway a Microsoft Xcock (oops freudian slip!) is so stupidly cheap now, you can't afford not to have one. Particularly with games like Steel Battallion, DOAX Beach Volleyball, and CapcomVsSNK out at the moment
