20 year HS reunions

who's had one? who's got one coming up?

I was the vice president of my senior class and our 20 year reunion is approaching this June. omfg

I created a facebook group and have invited in about 2/3 of the class so far and am working on finding the rest. (small HS, 3 towns only 75 kids in our graduating class)

How do folx feel about using FB to organize a HS reunion? I had a discussion with a friend of mine once who was so furious that her 10 year reunion was completely done through face book that she refused to go  seemed an odd reaction to me. I mean sure, the idea of not sending out formal invitations seems less personal and all but...realistically it's unnecessary.

If you have a reunion coming up, do you plan to go? why or why not

If you've had one recently did you go? or not? why or why not? was it fun? did you enjoy it?

what was the cost to you?

I'm thinking of going the casual least expensive route, perhaps renting a near by funtion hall (pavillion) and having a BBQ or something similar. I'm torn between a night time party for us or a day time shin dig for all the families too. I love a grown up party but I'd love to meet everyone's families too.

please feel free to give me your opinions as I'd greatly appreciate them.

thanx

Mine is coming up next year. They're using FB to organize it, it seems the most logical.

I won't be attending because it doesn't interest me in the least. High school was pretty lame and hanging out with people I didn't like 20 years ago sounds even worse.

yeahthat

Mine was a few years ago. A 3 days event on the beach in St Pete. Not my cup of tea even if I lived close at the time, I wouldn't have gone.

Mine is next year as well and since I am back in the area where I went to high school I just might go. I mean, why not?

nod

My 25th just passed.

I didn't go because it cost $140. to attend.

I didn't want to spend that much money to see people who weren't my friends in high school, and I don't speak to now.

I think that a "grown up" thing will be better if you're going to do it. People might not want to spend money to register the whole family, and therefore won't come.

The shrug is because, when I tell people I have fun at these things, their reaction is usually, "Yeah, right. Fun at a reunion? Get outta here."

Call it a pre-emptive shrug. lol

Mine was six years ago and I didn't go but a friend of mine did and told me about it. I see they're the same old dull bunch that they always were. They didn't have a DJ playing jams from the old high school years like I've seen other people's class reunions have. These folks went to some restaurant and sang karaoke. barf It was around Christmas time too and she said several of them kept singing Grandma got run over by a fucking reindeer. double barf Hell, I don't even think they had any alcohol and a get together ain't NO damn fun with no alcohol.

I don't have time for none of their fake asses anyway. I've lurked on some of their facebook pages recently, the ones that don't have privacy settings, and to look at their pages, you would think they are all ultra religious Christians....yeah right, I don't know who they think they're fooling. lol

Looks like I'm the only whore of my class. Oh well, fuck 'em. lol

Mine's coming up in June as well. There are plenty of people I would love to see, but there's one person in particular that I don't ever want to see again and I know for a fact she will be there.

Problem is my wife really wants to go and knows the reason I don't want to (even though I've denied it, she knows). It's my wife's reunion too.

yeahthat to yeahthat

I didn't go to my 10 year, and I won't be going to my 20 year (next year) that is currently being organized on FB.

Can't believe I was in my first semester if Sr. year 20 years ago. disbelief What a lame ass 20 yrs. its been, too. But that was discussed on a different thread, already.

I have to say, my class was pretty exceptional. Sure, there were some people I didn't get along with. But in a class of almost 500, that's bound to happen. And by the 10 year reunion, everyone had pretty much gotten over their high school issues.

We have reunions because there are folks in the class (not me lol ) who are gung-ho enough to organize them. Facebook has definitely made that easier.

lol sang karaoke? odd. see, I may run into an issue with music and alcohol but since I intitiated this thing...I'm insisting on both. A large number of people from my class are .....very religious....like no TV, no rock music, no drinking religious. almost "footloose" like. lol although all those so called religious kids were drinking, and partying just like the rest of us but always acted like....oh no, we don't do that.

this could be a challenge.

hmm....maybe it's because I come from such a small area. I knew each and every person in my class, many of them since elementary or middle school.
