I don't know how many of you know of this man, but....

When I was a child suffering from epilepsy and was in hospital in a pretty bad state...

Along came this guy... I met him 3 times (2 planned, 1 not planned)

He gave me belief in myself and made me feel I could achieve anything...

He could do this simply by his presence, let alone his words.

He met my mother and made her feel a Queen

I am so sad to hear this news

He helped me at a crucial point in my childhood

God Speed and God Bless Jim

In the Netherlands he was someone who's name many people somehow know, although many are not familiar with his work. His show Jim'll fix it was copied many times though.

How great that he helped you profoundly with his kindness

It must've been a such great experience to meet him.

I used to watch repeats of his show a lot when I was younger.

I can't believe that he's gone.

RIP

That's such a touching story Steadwood. Hearing this news I felt such a pang of sadness - another major figure from my childhood passed away. I used to love Jim'll fix it, what I would have given for one of those medals! He made a lot of kids very happy. RIP Jim.

A true British eccentric.

A bit of an oddball with a good heart.

We can all learn from him.

RIP Jim

Searching to find what we lost along the way.

I met him when I was 6 years old. He visited my infant school and I had a pea race with him. I lost!

I was discussing Jimmy Saville's death with friends today and it turned out that most of us wrote to Jim'll Fix It when we were young. lol He was such a memorable character from most of our childhoods.

There's no denying he inspired a lot of people and raised great awareness for various charities. He was a good man. RIP.

Now then. Jangle, Jangle.

Now then guys and gals. I 'ave a letter 'ere from a rather eccentric old man from Scarborough. In. Yorkshire.

It says (jangle, jangle),

"Dear God,

I am a former children's B - B - C television presenter. Disc. Jockey. And professional wrestler (well 'ows about that then?).

Please. Could. You fix it for me, to go to 'eaven.

Love. From. Jimmy"

Well goodness gracious. As it 'appens, I can (errerrerrrerrr...)

RIP Jimmy!!!
